KENNER, Louisiana Three people convicted of hauling away liquor, wine and beer from a grocery store after Hurricane Katrina were sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The judge said Wednesday he wanted to send a message that looting would not be tolerated when he gave the maximum sentence to Coralnelle Little, 36, Rhonda McGowen, 42, and Paul C. Pearson, 36.
A jury convicted the trio May 2 on a portion of the state's looting law that took effect two weeks before the Aug. 29 storm. The amended law set a three-year minimum sentence, and a maximum of 15 years in prison, for looting during a declared state of emergency.

They might actually serve 3 years. I doubt it. Goobernor Blanco will probably pardon them. She has that "Is you is, or is you aint, my constituents?" mentality, so she won't want to see her voting base get locked up.

But the beer and liquor were just going to be ruined anyway, they were just going to put it to good use. They probably needed it for their poor mothers and fathers who were going into withdrawl. No crime in that is there?

Should've sentenced them to 15 years hard labor, with the state looting their paychecks every month... No wait, that happens to all of us. I guess hard labor and no pay would be all that's left.
(Who thinks that the looters will be seriously unhappy in jail? Free food, free shelter, and free medical.)

What waste of labor. These law breakers should be convinced to help in the cleanup for 15 years.

What cleanup? They still don't have a plan on what they are going to do.
