The wigs and faces have come off on morning television -- and the nails are out!
It isn't pretty.
Barbara Walters coldly ripped into outgoing VIEW talker Star Jones this morning on ABC-TV.
Walters announced that Star would no longer be permitted to appear on the show -- effective immediately -- after Star strayed from script during an exit that's turned ugly.
Transcipt:
WALTERS: "And then there were three. This is, truthfully, a very difficult day for us, and it is a sad day for us. If you were watching the program yesterday, you would have heard Star announce that she's leaving THE VIEW and will not be on the program next fall.
"We didn't expect her to make this statement yesterday. She gave us no warning. And we were taken by surprise. But the truth is that Star has known for months that ABC did not want to renew her contract and that she would not be asked back in the fall.
"The network made this decision based on a variety of reasons which I won't go into now. But we were never going to say this. We wanted to protect star. And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted about why she was leaving and that we would back her up.
"We worked closely with her representatives and we gave her time to look for another job. We hope she would announce it on the program and leave with dignity.
"But Star made another choice.
"And since her announcement yesterday, she has made further announcements that have surprised us.
"So it is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table.
"And, therefore, regrettably Star will no longer be on this program, except for some shows that have been prerecorded.
"THE VIEW helped make Star a Star and Star helped make THE VIEW the success that it is.
"We will never forget that. We wish her well in this new chapter of her life as we begin a new chapter on THE VIEW."
"Barbara didn't have my back"
Star Jones fired back on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in Los Angeles, PerezHilton.com reports.
Star told KIIS FM: "I'm not trying to be emotional about this. I understand it was a business decision. I understood it was a business decision when I was told then. But then in that same week, I was told they were adding a new co-host and it was Rosie O'Donnell. And that was the same week that she had been so nasty and vicious towards me. Rosie insulted me. She tried to damage me professionally and personally...
"It's a little shocking to me that Barbara feels betrayed. I was really surprised that Barbara feels betrayed. If you watched me yesterday, I said that she was the most amazing mentor and I thanked her for the most amazing opportunity. My departure was orchestrated some time ago. And while I can accept any business decision, it's hard to accept the manner in which it was handled during the last two months. But, if you use words like betrayal, if anyone should be betrayed, it should be me! Barbara didn't have my back...
"It didn't sound right for me when they were saying your ratings have gone down. I said, well wait a minute, I've seen the ratings. The top five shows in the year you're talking about were about me and planning the wedding. It didn't sound right. "
Developing...
She's a defense attorney, when she lawyers, which is never. That should explain *some* of it, though.
It's hard to judge another's Christianity unless there's a blatant misbehavior going on, but she only mentions Jesus when it will "get" her something, I noticed from watching her off and on at the start of the show.
Poor little Elisabeth won't be long for the world, without my prayers in the audience. LOL.
I've gone as far as I can go with this show - had ignored it for all its middle years, then more recently had been switching over to ABC at the end of the Today Show, to watch the first 10 minutes of The View to see "how libs think" on whatever was in the news and send a silent prayer that Elisabeth could take care of our end of things that day - then *click* the remote.
If I weren't very sick, I wouldn't have the TV on at all, that time of day, or even be idle enough to watch it.
That was the only reason Starzilla's wedding preps got the coverage she is bragging about in the Drudge piece - the "train wreck" factor.
"I told you to bring me a Merlot! Right now! Chop, chop! I want an insouciant little Merlot, right now! None of this sniveling little Pinot Noir crap - get that Merlot I bottled in 1977 and bring it here this instant!"
Minorities are all equal and equally interchangable according to white liberals.
90% of the audience hates her, because she lies.
Warning: the above link contains foul language...
It sounds as though Barbara/ABC didn't live up to their end of the deal. What vile thing did Star say/do when she announced she was leaving the show?
Star had known since last fall when they didn't renew her contract. Baba and The View "people" gave her all this time to find something else to save face.
Baba Wahwah also said that she had talked the other powers-that-be besides herself into the extra time in hopes that Star's ratings with the audience would improve ("time to redeeem herself"), but they didn't.
Star was miffed because Baba intro'ed Rosie O as a new co-host "right in front of" Star when they were at the Daytime Emmy awards, seated on the front row.
So, Star being the diva Star that she thinks she is, got Baba back by going out there Tuesday (I didn't see or hear it, TG) on The View and saying she wouldn't be back in the fall, when the P-T-B had not scheduled an official announcement of it until the end of this week, like Friday.
It just makes it look like everyone's bailing at once (*bwahahaha*) and Baba prolly doesn't like that very much.
Oh, then after she did that and PO'ed everybody, she went on some radio talk shows and did at least one print interview (People mag) and told them all that she "felt like she had been fired."
Gee, I wonder why. Non-renewal of a contract usually is the same thing, mmmm mmm Ms Jones-Reynolds without the hyphen.
"And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted about why she was leaving and that we would back her up."
Except the truth, then?
Don't you just love a cat fight?
No more here? Is there a Today Show report on FR? Dang, I missed it - *snapping my fingers* OK, I'll look. Just hate to say I actually sought out "Star Jones" in any way.
Loved it - looking for more!
I have never watched the show, but I saw a clipping where Barbara W. admitted she lied and actually felt it was a noble act. She is such a fake.
