A newly released survey by MasterCard Canada's 2006 Priceless Index indicates that a majority of Canadians polled have selected beer as their most priceless national beverage and Celine Dion as their most priceless Canadian star. The Canadian flag is considered to be our most priceless symbol while regional divides differ on whether parkas or toques are the most distinctly Canadian clothing.

Mastercard's Priceless Index is an annual national survey conducted to determine the symbols that are considered representative of Canadian patriotism.

According to this year's survey:

--one in three Canadians (33%) say the most priceless way to celebrate Canada Day is with family, friends, and neighbours with firework displays running second; only 9% preferred an outdoor picnic or barbecue.

--while the Canadian flag is considered the top Canadian icon at 28%, a close second is The Charter of Rights and Freedoms at 27%. Medicare came in third in this category.

--a resounding 56% of respondents selected beer as our most priceless Canadian drink; rye was a very distant second choice at only 8%.

--while maple syrup came out on top as the most priceless Canadian food, beef/steak placed second and poutine came in third. There were regional variances however in our food choices with the Atlantic provinces choosing lobster as their most priceless Canadian food.

--the parka at 21% and the toque at 20% came out on top as our most priceless Canadian attire. Third place in this category was claimed by jeans and denim.

--Surprisingly, Celine Dion was chosen as Canada's most priceless star followed by Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox and the late John Candy.

--In the literary talent category first place was claimed by Margaret Atwood with Pierre Berton placing second. Farley Mowat came in third.

--our most priceless Canadian song (excluding the national anthem) was a toss-up between Stompin' Tom Connors' Hockey Song and Anne Murray's 1970 hit Snowbird at 5% each. Three songs tied for third place - This Land is Our Land, The Maple Leaf Forever and The Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald.

It was an infamous appearance by Celine Dion on Larry King, talking about the New Orleans looters.

Hey...that sounds like a good name for a sports team!

I'd rather listen to moose in heat.

Are they in Vegas too?

I guess she's a cut above the screechy Alanis chick. LOL

What about Shania Twain. She's a better singer than Celine and nasty Alanis Morissette put together.

A visual aid just for you pissant.

You're welcome :)

Three songs tied for third place - This Land is Our Land, The Maple Leaf Forever and The Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald.

ELAINE: Andrea Doria? Isn't that the one they did the song about?

JERRY: (Correcting her) Edmund Fitzgerald.

ELIANE: I love Edmund Fitzgerald's voice.

JERRY: (Gives Elaine a look) No, Gordon Lightfoot was the singer. Edmund Fitzgerald was the ship.

GEORGE: (Talking about his would-be apartment) You could fit 15 people in that bathroom..

ELAINE: I think Gordon Lightfoot was the boat.

JERRY: (Sarcastic) Yeah, and it was rammed by the Cat Stevens.

This is the hottest Canadian chick of all time. Yeah she was a one-hit wonder, but she was awfully nice to look at.
