Dunno if that is the case, but I bet they blame her suicide on homophobia and society's failure to accept her, rather than a mental instability that might coincidentally have led her to abandon her normal sexual urges in favor of homosexuality.

I wonder why they didn't mention her being lesbian. For the same reason it's never mentioned that other folks are heterosexuals -- it isn't necessarily relevant.
