Immigrant arrested for 2nd time in S.A. [Texas Revolving Door]

An undocumented immigrant arrested and sent back to Mexico two months ago during a large-scale raid in San Antonio was arrested again Friday after having crossed back into the United States.

Daniel Hernández López, 37, was arrested Friday morning at his San Antonio home and charged with illegal entry, said Jerry Robinette, second in command of investigations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Antonio.

Hernández faces a maximum prison sentence of six months.

He was one of 27 undocumented workers rounded up April 19 at IFCO Systems, a Houston-based crate and pallet construction company that was the subject of a yearlong ICE investigation that netted nearly 1,200 immigrants in more than 40 plants across the country.

Robinette said Hernández's arrest was the only one Friday, but the agency is aware that several other undocumented workers escaped the raid.

The agency is still after them, he said, but, should they turn themselves in, they could be offered a break as potential witnesses in the ongoing investigation, provided they have clean criminal records.

Hernández's girlfriend, who did not want her name used because of her undocumented status, said she knew it was a risk bringing him back to San Antonio, but he was ill in Mexico and had been doing better here.

She said agents surprised Hernández at around 7:30 a.m. when he went out to his car. He was barefoot and shirtless at the time, but agents let him get dressed before taking him away, she said.

"All our plans have gone down the drain now," she said. "I don't know what to think or do anymore."

Raids and results

• Three of the 27 undocumented workers arrested in April at an IFCO Systems office in San Antonio are fighting removal from the United States.
• Nearly 1,200 people were arrested in raids in April at 40 plants around the nation, and almost all have been sent to their home countries voluntarily.
• A voluntary return has no legal consequences should the person re-enter illegally and be caught.
• If caught again after a formal deportation, immigrants can face up to 20 years in prison.

Undocumented? By that I guess that They mean criminal alien. I am sick and tired of the same old bull crap. The border needs to be closed, criminal aliens need to be deported, and the laws on the books, not new laws, need to be enforced. If not, America is going to go right down the crapper. Meaning its culture and heritage.

What is crazy, is that the only people to vote for who seem to understand this is disenfranchised republicans. IOW, members of the constitution party and other true conservative "fringe" republicans who don't stand a chance. I hate to be a downer, but until people, and I mean "republicans" quit voting party over principle, America as we know it is finished. It is time to elect true constitutional conservatives, and party be darned.

He's not an "immigrant". Immigration implies legal entry.

Maybe they only had room for one at the detention center?

Troops, tent cities and a fence!

I have 2 choices for congress on Nov, 7, a flaming demonrat liberal or an open borders libertarian. Neither one has a clue.

"All our plans have gone down the drain now," she said. "I don't know what to think or do anymore."

I bet one of your plans was to become a legal resident./s
