These guys can tell ya.
Fedora can get bloated, but it's also among the best-supported distros out there--and it's free for the download.
I have never tried it, sorry... I'm using Mepis 6 RC2 right now... I had some problems with it but have now found a fix... install Mepis 6 RC2 and then install "hwdata" from synaptic.. works like a charm.
I've tried Knoppix, don't like it.
Burned a CD for Puppy, and another, Debian,Mepis or another.
I couldn't get my comp to open either CD or the ISO files..
Bummer.
I've pretty much made up my mind I'm going to get a Mac when I replace my comp.
Tired of the viri, spyware, trojans, etc.
Let me know what you do and how it turns out.
My wife uses it and loves it. I mignt go that way with my next computer, but only if I have to go to a new MS OS that is incompatible with my existing software.
you must try www.pclinuxos.com
best of all it's a liveCD so you can try it without instlaling it.
it has everything that linspire has and it's still free.
Haven't used Linspire--so I couldn't tell ya.
Whatever you do, avoid Suse 10.1...8^)
(10.0 and below are still excellent...)
I have Linspire Five-0 V2 installed on my desktop. REALLY nice distro, considering the fact that the basic CNR service is now free. I just hope they update the version of Amarok they have in the CNR Warehouse to 1.4.3 (current version is 1.3.8 or 1.3.9) since podcast support in 1.4.x is much better than in 1.3.x.
