Syndicated talk show host Phil Hendrie will broadcast his radio show for the last time tonight.
Umm.... Who's Phil Hendrie?
Phil Hendrie? Phil Hendrie.... let me see...
I'm drawing a blank here.
A big blank.
Cyril Crunderhopper: I'm not Phil Hendrie. I'm Cyril Crunderhopper, Civil Defense Sergeant Major of Between, Georgia. And I really need all of your food and beer right away so...
Lazamataz: Why do you need his food and beer?!?!
Cyril Crunderhopper: I need to ration it!
Lazamataz: To ration it.
Cyril Crunderhopper: Yes! If we don't ration it, we'll run out!
Lazamataz: Where would you store it?
Cyril Crunderhopper: In my fridge, of course. Then people could come over and get their ration. After they paid me, of course.
Lazamataz: After they PAID you???
Cyril Crunderhopper: Running refrigerators takes money, Phil. Do you expect me to provide vital public services for free???
Lazamataz: Suppose they don't have the money.
Cyril Crunderhopper: Then I confiscate it.
Lazamataz: You confiscate it.
Cyril Crunderhopper: Which means I eat the food and drink the beer.
Lazamataz: Okay, let's see what the callers think.
If I could have done the voices, the material would be easy to write. Cyril Crunderhopper would have been a fine Hendrie character.
If is a very big word.[IF]
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling
Kinda cool you sent that to me this morning. I needed that.
I have it at the ready, for ANYONE who needs it: it's a great read. That, and the Coulter doll.
640 KFI is one of the stations, clear channel. he has been on for years. Remember the fuel police, siphoning gas out of the tanks around town?
Total put on. funny.
Welcome to FreeRepublic
I listen to Savage years ago in the 2003-4 when he was on WABC he had the 6-8pm slot, and also on MSNBC.
I can still get him on WOR and have listen to me he is still ruled by fair weather!
I think i understand. But that last sentence is confusing little bit a.
Oh, sorry.
Thanks for the welcome.
And the garage sale police. Pervs trolling garage sales...
Or the guy who wants to look inside a girl's purse for contraband, then maybe take her to her car for questioning....
Some guy would call up and say , 'If you ever did that to my daughter...
'Citezens aux. police guy' was a riot.
Once you realize that he is a put on, he is hysterical, I used to listen to him on Tues. nights while waiting for my son to get out of band practice..
I've not tried it, but i understand you can still get Phil's stuff from his website.
the show I found humorous was the fuel police. Driving around town checking quality control of gasoline by syphoning it from the tanks of cars in the mall parking lots, etc.
his shows themselves are not funny, it is the unsuspecting callins that just make the show hysterical...their outrage.
