The U.S. national team goes into Thursday's Group E finale against Ghana (9:55 a.m. ET, ESPN) knowing that it must come up with a win to have any chance of moving to the Round of 16.
All four teams in Group E, including the USA, still have a chance to advance. The U.S. must beat a tough Ghana side to have any chance of moving to the knockout phase. Should Bruce Arena's team be able to secure three points against the Africans, whom they meet at 9:55 a.m. ET on ESPN, they will need Italy to beat the Czech Republic in a simultaneous match, which can be seen live on ESPN2. The U.S. is not mathematically eliminated with a Czech draw or win, but will need a big victory over Ghana to avoid being eliminated on goal difference.

No, that goal doesn´t make his overall-performance better. Ronaldo is a hippo, he´s partying instead of training, he´s lazy and lame. If he´d do his best he´d be better. I despise the arrogance to be lazy just because you´ve reached a level of popularity.

Even a blind overweight squirrel can find a nut in the woods. Hipponaldo's goal will ensure he plays for Brazil for the rest of the competition. That's good news for all the other teams left in the World Cup.

OK, this is not to make any apologies for the very bad US play during their matches. The US lost and deserved to loose.
But do any of you World Cup trivia buffs know if there has been any other time where the 3rd & 4th ranked teams in pool play advanced?

I understand that you can have an old grudge against Beckham (he can do that to people), but his passing in the games I watched was one of the best in the cup.

Sausage eaters beat them as they sat the best striker duo in the tournament.
Overlook them at your own peril.
Beward of the tricolor.

If you really think USA should have been ranked in the top TEN in the world, you are seriously deluding yourself. FIFA must have fixed the rankings to create American interest in the competition.
On the form they have shown, I would place them about 40th, which is roughly where they finished.

We should have beat Italy. Stupid ref messed us up. But the Italians are pretty good. And we often beat Mexico. And they're really good. If we were really 40th we would be worse than Togo. :)

What's Golzado? Or however you spell it. Univision said that instead of the usual GOL!

Well, USA finished last in their group. And Togo could still finish third in theirs tomorrow so you may be onto something there.
