Corsi files FOIA request to expose plans for 'North American union'
World Net Daily ^ | June 20th, 2006 | World Net daily

Posted on 06/20/2006 12:32:10 AM PDT by Trupolitik

Author Jerome Corsi filed a Freedom of Information Act request yesterday asking for full disclosure of the activities of an office implementing a trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada that apparently could lead to a North American union, despite having no authorization from Congress.

Corsi specifically has requested the partnership's membership lists, constitutive documents, meeting minutes, meeting agendas and meeting schedules as well as all findings, reports, presentations or memoranda.

He also wants all comments to representatives of the "Prosperity Working Groups" or other working groups, committees or task forces associated with the partnership along with internal and external interagency or intra-agency memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, agreements, initiatives and budgeting documents.

The purpose of the FOIA, he said, is to get the "full facts exposed in the light of day, available for the American people and for Congress to examine and decide."

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., is demanding the Bush administration fully disclose the activities of the SPP office.

The joke is your avoidance of logical debate and commentary.

I have become very weary of the smug, sarcastic, infantile, and tiresome comments from too many 'conservatives'. They so much remind me of the Republican 'conservatives' who HATED Ronald Reagan and were voting for the Rockefeller types - until they realized they were stuck with Reagan for 8 years. They remind me all too much of the Party apparatchiks of the Republican party, the ones who care for power, and not for principle.

Thanks for the postings!

Who's the conspiracy theorist now?!?!

I am conservative student from the great State of Texas that actively campaigned for President Bush, and found this issue on my own, if you must know. I have no affiliation with any of the above, but would be PROUD if I was.

I am just curious as to why you want to focus on me rather than on the issue I posted. Is it just too much for you to comprehend that President Bush (as good as he has been on many issues) could be VERY wrong on this one? Is it too much to consider that a conservative on his own would find the creation of an APPOINTED international regulatory commission a serious problem?

Seriously man, your efforts are better spent on looking at this substance of the issue, rather than trying to put in some conspiracy framework.

ps... are you conservative or am I wasting my time talking to a liberal?

Reagan is my favorite President of all time, despite his mistakes. In fact, my favorite speech of ALL TIME is his 1964 speech before he ran for governor of California.

Its as true today as it was in '64

Who's the conspiracy theorist now?!?!

Not a conspiracy theorist, just a retired businessman who recognizes advertising when he sees it.

I am conservative student from the great State of Texas that actively campaigned for President Bush, and found this issue on my own, if you must know.

"I was a Republican, Rush, until . . . "

I am just curious as to why you want to focus on me rather than on the issue I posted.

I'm a former cop (medically retired because I lost one of my two favorite lungs to a bullet). The credbility of the witness is always important, especially when there is so little actual fact being discussed (if Corsi had no-kidding facts about this, he wouldn't need to make FOIA requests now, he'd've already had them filed).

Seriously man, your efforts are better spent on looking at this substance of the issue, rather than trying to put in some conspiracy framework.

Neither you nor Corsi seem to be in any hurry to look at the substance; you'd much rather hyperventilate over the sizzle than actually look to see if there's any steak.

Since you are a former cop then you are familiar with reasonable suspicion and probable cause. These authorize an officer to search.

I believe that is exactly what Corsi and Rep. Tancredo are doing. Also, if this was all about marketing a book, why would Rep. Tancredo put his reputation on the line for something like that?

There are also aggravating circumstances. First, none of the policies concerning the SPP have been given to congress, and have not been openly discussed in the media. If this is such a grand idea that America would love, wouldnt President Bush use the opportunity to announce the "good news"?

Secondly, many Europeans didnt think they would be under an EU superstate during the early days of the EU (before it was called the EU). In fact, they were told specifically several decades ago that there would be no EU, that is was merely to facilitate commerce.

If anything, I hope you keep this issue on your radar. The world is increasingly mmoving toward regional control. ASEAN, African Union, EU, NAFTA, etc. I am just glad someone other than a student such as myself is looking into it.

Well, "making a s**tload of money from the gullible" comes to mind.

Also, you are falsely presuming that Mr. Tancredo has any reputation to risk. He's also pimping a book.

I don't follow Rep. Tancredo all that closely, but I presume that he's also playing to his base (not that there's anything wrong with that).

The joke is your avoidance of logical debate and commentary.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: You can't logically debate someone who insists that the sky is plaid.

You show us where we've surrendered sovereignty. You can't because we haven't.

Many reasonable folks are concerned about future losses of sovereignty. Most politicians by nature are power-hungry scumbags who have their own interests in mind. Isn't it smart to remain skeptical with them?

Here is a loss of individual sovereignty:

The president uses executive orders to create a bureaucracy led by someone he appoints.

The bureaucracy sets up "working groups" to develop policy and a supranational level.

There are no constitutional protections against these groups. There is no public scrutiny of these groups, their members are not public information. There is no public record of the activities of these groups, except what they want to make public.

Individual sovereignty is harmed because
1. unelected bodies are forming foreign policy instead of elected officials in congress.

2. Individuals have no say in what the groups do, or even if they should exist.

3. They do not keep public records.

4. They often meet outside the country, outstide the jurisdiction of US law and law enforcement.

5. The executive branch accumulates enormous power against the individual, as appointees are beholden to the White house and cannot be voted out of office.

6. The system is the conplete oppositeof a Constitutional Republic.

This Corsi rant is not totally baseless as it deals with real elements such as the SPP and real ideas that are gaining popularity in think tanks and business media alike. It is however alarmist and absurd in its allusion to conspiracy. The calls of tinfoil are right in this regard but blatantly ignore the other elements I mentioned. You've just skipped to the defense that will be used (by the same people yelling tinfoil in this thread)sometime in the future when borders loosened by guest worker programs and perimeter security give way to fully open borders between the three countries. And you're right, it wont be the end of the world and probably not the beginning of an EU style North America. Wed likely stop short of that. I still don't want that. Some of us just don't want to join with Canada and Mexico.

He has no evidence because there is none to be had. There is no conspiracy to destroy the US. However, a trade area so "free" that it includes open borders between the three countries of North America is firmly in the realm of possibility. The mexican guest worker program and SPP can be seen (and rightly I believe) as being steps that could be used as an incremental beginning to the open border trade area end. I also believe many of those rightly deriding Corsi for talking about this will defend the idea of open borders in North America should its day come.

Will we back the actions of our Republican President, or will we stand on our principles?

The question of the century. Our country is being sold out from under us by stealth leadership in all areas of government, including the White House.

Yessir. That is EXACTLY what is happening.

All of the folks who suggest that this is a "conspiracy theory". Well, why isnt congress being briefed on the SPP? Why is NO major media outlet talking about how great the Trans-national corridor is? Why didnt Bush have a big media blitz when he signed the agreement in Waco in 2005? If this was such a great idea, then it seems like he would welcome the good news in the face of the liberal Iraq-malaise media blitz!?!?

The people who think Corporate Multinationalism can do no wrong, and Bush can do know wrong need to snap. Their dedication should be to the US Constitution and its citizens. NOT commerce at all costs. Not to any one President for every issue.

These guys are as bad as any rabid liberal that merely tows the line. Disgusting!
