Although there is an American flag on the moon, it does not declare that the Moon is American land. The United States should send a new crew to the Moon with a flag, and declare the Moon for the United States. Space could be mainly international, but land (such as planets, moons, asteroids, and even planetary systems) could be owned.

They would have to send a lawyer, but that would be OK, as they don't have to bring him back.

It could be sufficient evidence if America decides to explicitly make the claim. The real claim was the signing of the 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty, which implies ownership of the entire visible and invisible universe.

Hubble is cataloging America's vast claims in outer space.
