While I'm a Mac fan as far as individual workstations go, I don't know how keen I am on their cluster use. For one thing, the XNU microkernal leads to slower execution of calculation-intensive code, in general.

The other thing is that when you get down and dirty, getting no-name LINUX boxes makes economic sense, even with the higher admin overhead. You have to be able to quickly pull a bad box out, but Google doesn't seem to have a problem doing this, to great effect. (Note: they're not running Linux, but a special Google OS, or so the rumors say....)
