Discussed this very early on using the following as an example: Two brothers involved. One brother raped a girl. Both brothers were tested for DNA. One brother had 12 matching markers. One had 13. The one with 13 was convicted. The one with 12 was EXCLUDED and could not have been the rapost.

This is a summary but the concept is that not having the necessary markers AUTOMATICALLY excludes the person.
