The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Lookie what I got from the APHA in my email:

"Would you like Chris Cox to work with your horse? Are you having any problems with your horse? We are looking for Horses for the APHA World Championship Show HorseCity.com Seminar on July 1, 2006. Please email julie@chris-cox.com and tell her about the problems you are having with your horse. We will be making selections this week. I hope you can join us!!"

Let's see, what does Tuffy need to work on? He won't stop curling his upper lip when he wants a treat, he licks me in the face, he likes his butt scratched and he farts alot.

Man I feel your pain. I once had to stack hay up to the rafters of the hay loft (using the step method) when I had a really bad cold. Developed pneumonia after that and was out of commission for nearly a month. But that was six or seven years ago. I'm smarter now, (I think) ;-)

Heh... you sound like me trying to drum up illnesses in my dogs when the cute vet (now my horse vet) first started at the clinic :~)

I was single then, of course :~)

I would love to meet Chris Cox, I watch him on RFD-TV all the time, but I don't think Tuffy has a big enough problem to bother him with. He does have some piddly little stuff like trying to cut the corners in the arena or round pen, falling to the inside like a barrel racer and he also needs to learn working off his rear-end, instead of being so heavy on his front-end.

Hey, I asked my vet about that Recover stuff and he said he doesn't like it. The last time he used it, which I gathered was a couple of years ago, the horse darn near died. He said it scared him bad enough that he won't even try it anymore. He said he would keep researching to see if he could come up with something else to try that's not a steroid. I'll let you know if he does...

No. We watched one or two episodes, but couldn't get into it. I think when we watched it was the middle of a season, and I never caught on to what was going on.

A few pictures of the Green Corn Festival.

The corn.

Mack and his crony friends:)

The rides.

Charlie and Kristy stopped by on their way to the rodeo.

One of the stages that a band played from. Tomorrow night another one will set up on the steps where Mack was sitting and there will be dancing on the street in front.

An orchestra played tonight in the park across the street.

A new attraction this year. You could get your pictures taken with one of these guys. They were fun to watch, jumping on each other playing.

Becky

Did you go pose with the tigers? :~)

Good pictures of the festival... through your dreamy lens :~D

RE LOST, we didn't watch it at all on broadcast, I can only take so many characters and plotlines at one time in life, and we had 24 going on. But Ruthy bought us the DVD set of the first season, and it was a lot of fun to watch it that way... it's like 24 in that there's twists and surprises and cliffhangers, so it's tempting to just keep watching the DVDs in a big marathon.

Good Morning. Beautiful sunshine today. Maybe I can get some weeds pulled, now that the rain has stopped.

Becky, does the sign in the one window say "Chop House opening soon"? That is the name of the restaurant, work is taking me Tuesday, for my retirement dinner.

My dog loves to do that too . . .

Is she begging for a belly rub?
