OK gang. Time to put the old iconoclastic part of the old thinker to work.
Yeah, I have enjoyed Ann's acidic barbs and laughed out loud at some of her more outrageous pronouncements over the years - though frankly, her act is getting a bit old with me - but that is not what this vanity is about.
I suspect that we are all secretly aware that her public persona displays more than a little evidence of exhibitionism and narcissism....the woman clearly has some personality issues. I personally think that she likely has a low sense of self-worth, which her public persona would appear to compensate for....
I would like to hear opinions on this topic from any FReepers who are psychologists or psychiatrists.
Oh, and in case some of you didn't get it, I'll repeat myself:
THIS VANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MS. COULTER'S POLITICAL VIEWS. It is meant to provoke some thought about her method of promoting them (and herself).
I suspect that few Freepers would want their daughters to behave as Ms. Coulter does - both in terms of her outrageous rudeness and her never-married lifestyle.
Right on the first part, wrong on the second.
If they are of age you have no say in what they say or do.
I am sure am not going to hold my tongue if I think they are doing something wrong just because I'm afraid they'll get mad at me....
You may disagree with it, but you have no recourse to control it. If you raised them 'right' you wuld have no worries. Ann does what she does best, takes away the rhetoric the left uses to keep conservative from accurate and emotional debate. Once they are 'disarmed', it's easier to see the fallacy of their arguments.
I love PJ! :)
I hadn't picked up on that angle.
Ann dissed the god of Darwinism and has its priesthood wailing and gnashing their teeth. One thing her book proves is that although the god of Darwinism is primarily a leftist cultural icon, there are people who consider themselves conservative (usually fiscally, not socially) who bow and scrape to that pointless and random deity as well.
How do you know she "sleeps around"? Unless you have first hand knowledge, which I have not seen you announce then you have attempted to smear her.
I really do not know IF Ann's beliefs are all that similar to mine, an assumption that you make just like her sleeping around.
What I like and admire about Ann is she is her own person and she speaks her mind and I think she has met a whole lot of men just like you.
I appreciate your thoughts. The nice thing about these forums is that we can have good discussions, and come away enlightened.
Should we ever meet up, the first round's on me!
Excellent. You would have made a good trial lawyer.
P.J. and Mark Steyn are two of the best out there.
Considering how many male posters on FR have talked about how they'd "hit" Ann, and how they'd love to have "a shot at that", surely they wouldn't set a different standard for their daughters. That would be hypocritical.
i am not an annbot, i have engaged annbots in the past on threads, but this particular controversy has made me see her differently. she literally cares not what anyone says about her, she says what needs to be said and will take the consequences. say what else you will, that is admirable.
I don't, and that's why I only used that phrase when a disingenuous poster pretended not to know what I had alluded to....she makes no bones about the fact that she 'dates' a lot, and that those dates aren't exactly Platonic in nature. Heard it with my own ears from her own mouth in many different interviews...again, you have to read between the lines, but that's one thing that getting older enables you to be able to discern....and if she didn't want it out there, she would not have alluded to it many times....
"Some women use their bodies as weapons."
Good point. She could probably draw blood if you came in contact with her elbows or knees.
Well, umm, so would I...as that Texan said earlier, I'd be retired right now if she were!!!
Personality disorder? She's driven and compulsive, but honey, flip through the DSM - we've all got our issues.
Eating disorder? Very likely. (And check out those nubs of nails)
Wonderful Linda! Touche! Excellent!
Then I hope you took that as a high compliment!
Quite frankly, IMHO, each of us has our calling in life Providentially defined. For some, a "never-married" lifestyle, gives one time and resources to devote to their destiny.
All of your duststorm about "Darwinism" aside, Pope John Paul The Great would have disagreed with you re: science and evolution.
And - please don't misunderstand me for I do not mean to insult you - I would rely on his knowledge of the Lord a little more than I would on yours...
And then there are those who desperately wish that they had been called to that life-style!!!
And you think Ann Coulter has issues?
