No Lobsters or Crabs at Two Big Grocery Chains (Canada- Thanks Peta!)
CFRA News ^ | Saturday, June 17, 2006 | Jason McIntyre

Lobsters and crabs aren't on the menu at two major grocery stores.

Whole Foods Market, an American natural supermarket chain, is halting live lobster and crab sales. A representative from the store says it's just not humane.

The US company joins Safeway in the decision.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an international rights group, applauds the move.

Mark Prescott from PETA says the two chains made a smart choice to spare the animals from the cramped and filthy environments.

I'll feel much safer shopping at those stores now. I was tired of the constant worry of getting pinched. :)

Cute, but you blew the punchline when you spelled it "tales" at the very beginning. ;)

It might hurt sales at Whole Foods.

I thought it was Whole foods that was refusing to make them available to the grocery stores.

Did I misunderstand?

They had better quit selling veggies as well.:

It has come to our attention at THE UNCOVEROR that something startling has been discovered by Dr. Bill Williams, a botanist at The Helvetica Institute. If his preliminary findings turn out to be true, they will prove that killing plants for food is no less cruel than killing animals for food. "Plants are aware," says Dr. Williams, "and they feel pain!"

Dr. Williams, and his team were doing experiments on talking to plants. He had set out to prove that this helped them only because it blows carbon dioxide over their leaves. He had one team speak lovingly to the plants, and another threaten and verbally abuse them. To the surprise of all involved, the plants that were lovingly spoken to thrived, producing large, lovely flowers. Their growth rates were off the charts! The plants that were verbally abused and threatened never bloomed. Some even withered and died.

His team then connected EEG electrodes to several plants, and measured their responses to various stimuli. "They definitely felt it when we pricked them with needles. One of my staff even burned one with a lighter. Not only did its EEG go off the charts, but so did every plant in the same room!" Dr. Williams is submitting his findings to other scientists for further review. He told me that plants not only seem to be aware and to feel pain, it looks like they can even communicate. They may even be sentient beings.

He told me, "I hadn't thought of it until now, but how does a fruit tree know how to make a sweet attractive fruit that animals will eat when it drops off, and spread the seeds? How do flowers know how to attract bees with sweet, fragrant nectar, and get their pollen spread about, assuring a next generation? They may be doing this consciously!" Maybe Disney will make a cartoon about a happy little vegetable. He will be called Buddy the Carrot. He'll lose his mother to the farmer when he picks her, and eats her. That could do to vegetables what Bambi did to meat! Carrots may in fact be more intelligent than deer. Who knows for sure? You read it here first at THE UNCOVEROR

Q: Why does a lobster never share? A: Because it's shellfish!

They threaten to picket the stores if they don't give in, so the stores drop products. They are egged on by wealthy 'environmentalists' like Julie Packard and her Monterey Bay Aquarium 'activists'.

Of course it helps that Julie Packard owns a food manufacturing plant that makes 'vegetarian' seafood. She's hoping you quit buying the real thing an buy her stuff.

How about this latest Peta adventure below?

PETA PESTS AMBUSH BEYONCÉ

June 17, 2006 -- THE nerdy couple who paid thousands of dollars to have dinner with Beyoncé Knowles at Nobu 57 on Thursday turned out to be bullies from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals who ambushed the pop diva about wearing fur.

Knowles showed up at the restaurant with her mother, Tina, and friend Heather Schindler, who heads her House of Dereon clothing line, to dine with two people she thought were fans.

The meal had been sold off at a Save the Music benefit last year as part of the charity's silent auction, but Knowles had no idea she was being ambushed.

After exchanging pleasantries and ordering their meals, the two animal-rights zealots suddenly pulled out a video camera and showed Beyoncé a tape of minks being killed. The PETA agents also used a hidden camera to secretly videotape Knowles and her reaction to their nasty questions. They were finally asked to leave 20 minutes later.

Our infuriated spy said, "They paid thousands of dollars to have that dinner, and Beyoncé honored her commitment - this set-up was a long time coming."

When she got to the table with Schindler, Beyoncé "immediately hugged the people and said, 'Thank you so much for paying so much money to have a meal with me. Save the Music is dear to my heart and does so much good. I can't tell you how much it means to me.' She was very gracious."

Minutes later, after everyone ordered their meal, Beyoncé was ambushed.

"This is how she is repaid?" cried our source. "She raises millions for Save the Music and music education in schools - and now she can never do something like that again. It is ridiculous. Those PETA people are nothing more than holier-than-thou bullies. What about the children - our children, you know, human beings? They don't care about them! They should be ashamed of themselves ambushing Beyoncé like that. She does so much good and all they can think about is fur trim."

Thankfully, Beyoncé was not left alone with the rude activists, but had Schindler by her side. At one point, one of the PETA pests asked Beyoncé, "How do you kill your animals?" - to which Schindler coolly responded, "With a needle."
