I remember reading somewhere about the 1994 World Cup in the States that Diego Maradona, probably one of the top 2 or 3 best soccer players of all time, commented that "amazingly when I walk on the streets of, for instance, New York, no one seemed to recognize me or other fellow soccer players. The Americans seem to think it is another usual day."
Of course the converse has happened for the NFL star players when they played a demonstrative match in Australia in 2000. No body on the streets knew who they were.
True enough - though I'm sure the NFL players took up a little more room in their chairs...
