I believe that the internet is the WORST possible venue for "meeting" people, no matter the gender. Women are naturally wary of men they encounter, wondering if they are scum trolling for an easy mark (I don't blame them). Men are naturally wary of women they encounter, wondering if it might be part of an NBC Dateline investigation.
The only people that I have met on the internet that I carry on regular conversations with are other men. We share our mutual interests, mostly political, financial, music related and firearms. It's safe and nobody gets hurt.
The internet is inherently a dangerous place due to it's anonymity. I'm not saying that it is impossible to make a good connection on line, I'm just saying that your odds are long.
In answer to your question....Yes.

I believe that the internet is the WORST possible venue for "meeting" people, no matter the gender. I've had bad luck on the internet, but I've had bad luck everywhere. One thing I've found that recommends the internet is that the dynamics change. The guy who takes full advantage of being slick in real life often falls on his face when people read the substance of what he has to say. When his words are written and not spoken, people realize that he has no substance, and those of us who are not so smooth have a better chance.

My experiences have been the opposite. I've met many women with whom I could have very good conversations. They've been intelligent and interesting. We haven't been able to make a connection, but the conversation is good. In many cases, there's just too much distance and difference in age.
