Lacrosse lawyer wants apology for poster (Duke)

Lawyer Alex Charns unleashed a second salvo this week in what he calls his "poster war," demanding a public police apology for a March placard that sought help in solving the Duke University lacrosse rape case.

Charns, representing one of the unindicted players, also reiterated an earlier request that the Durham Police Department launch an internal investigation into the situation.

Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said the department had no immediate comment.

According to Charns, the poster libeled 46 lacrosse players before the district attorney acknowledged he had sufficient evidence to prosecute only three for the alleged rape of an exotic dancer during an off-campus party at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. in mid-March.

The poster said the accuser "was sodomized, raped, assaulted and robbed. This horrific crime sent shock waves throughout our community."

Pure self interest on the campaign manager's part. If Nifong runs unopposed then the campaign manager is out of a job. If the campaign manager can rustle up an opponent for Nifong then the campaign manager is employed until November. Campaign managers have no morals or loyalty. In other words, the campaign manager is the third prostitute involved in this story.

The NC press doesn't even bother to ask the simple questions anymore. For those of you who do not live in NC, this case paints a fairly accurate picture of how Durham works (or doesn't work!).

Hopefully his mailbox was getting full wiith requests. I read the legal fees for one unindicted player have already reached 11,000. I can only imagine the fees for the 3 indicted boys.

That is real rime in Durham.

Side thought...when Colmes says let the legal process go on, does he have any clue what this will cost those families? Maybe he should pick up the tab. He would be calling for an end to this yesterday.
