Some of these movies are not what I would call inspirational, not that they aren't good, just not what I would call inspirational.

Agreed. Casablanca has to be one of my all time favorites, but inspirational? Am I supposed to be inspired to become an Morroccan saloon keeper?

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. I could only see it inspiring people to commit suicide.

....and Animal House didn't make it, either.........

What about Creature From the Black Lagoon? Saw it when I was 8 or 9 and it INSPIRED me to not watch scary movies ever again.

I don't always agree with the choices either, but these contests are always a pleasure to watch, if for nothing else than the clips from some of these great movies. Although there were some more recent flicks on this list, most of the ones on the list go back to the day when Hollywood had some fresh ideas and made quality pictures. Inferior product was usually considered a "B" movie, Today, the old "B" movies of yesteryear are better than some of the "A" rated slop out there now.
To: Grig
Ah, excuse me.. but you can kick 16, 34, and 52 off the list right from the get go....

Lot of PC there...
And where is "The Searchers"
