Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., is demanding the Bush administration fully disclose the activities of an office implementing a trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada that apparently could lead to a North American union, despite having no authorization from Congress.
As WND reported, the White House has established working groups, under the North American Free Trade Agreement office in the Department of Commerce, to implement the Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP, signed by President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and then-Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin in Waco, Texas, March 23, 2005.
The groups, however, have no authorization from Congress and have not disclosed the results of their work despite two years of massive effort within the executive branches of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Tancredo wants to know the membership of the SPP groups along with their various trilateral memoranda of understanding and other agreements reached with counterparts in Mexico and Canada.
Tancredo's decision has been endorsed by Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project.
"It's time the Bush administration to come clean," Gilchrist told WND. "If President Bush's agenda is to establish a new North American union government to supersede the sovereignty of the United States, then the president has an obligation to tell this to the American people directly. The American public has a right to know."
Geri Word, who heads the SPP office, told WND the work had not been disclosed because, "We did not want to get the contact people of the working groups distracted by calls from the public."
WND can find no specific congressional legislation authorizing the SPP working groups nor any congressional committees taking charge of oversight.
Many SPP working groups appear to be working toward achieving specific objectives as defined by a May 2005 Council on Foreign Relations task force report, which presented a blueprint for expanding the SPP agreement into a North American union that would merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a new governmental form.
"Actually it does, since bill clinton never went through boot camp either."
I do believe the Vice President himself didn't "go through boot camp". In fact, I believe he got a deferment during Vietnam.
How many other DU talking points do you use against good Republicans?
"bill clinton went to Oxford to get out of Vietnam service as an excuse, tom tancredo used childhood depression to be 4F."
Dick Cheney claimed "family hardship", as I recall. Your point?
UH, tom tancredo(your hero) himself has admitted it was his childhood depression(mental illness) that got him out of serving in Vietnam.
So look in the mirror before you go ballistic.
How evil of Dick Cheney, to claim a child, and not live on the glorified welfare state(ala your hero tom tancredo).
Anyways the volunteer Army is doing fine now, and Dick Cheney had a good reason for Vietnam deferment(children), unlike your hero tom tancredo(mental illness).
Later read.
Right on the money.......this very point bears watching closely.......I'll bet one of those "working groups" is very involved with incorporating some of the gov't of Mexico's tactics of using their "federales" to quell any oppostion to the elite's future plans to further the NAU.
"How does asking questions about an obvious attempt by the executive branch to integrate ourselves even further with one of the most corrupt, narco driven gov't in this hemisphere qualify for tin foil status?........and all of which is being done without Congressional oversight?"
For starters:
1. In the big thread on this subject on FR, nor in anywhere else, did I read anything remotely approaching any proof that this IS happening.
1a. Instead, the theory's main tie is the presumption (wrong and IMO unworthy of FR) that the President is some sort of one-worlder crypto-communist. This presumption is itself driven solely by the disagreement over a Mexican immigration policy.
1b. As with most conspiracy theories, the authors of this theory have chosen the facts that support their thesis and ignored any evidence to the contrary.
2. To 99% of the public, any one-world theory which in any way references CFR, NSA, or refers to "tri-lateral" anything causes an immediate association to wacko conspiracy theories.
2a. CFR is not the government or part of the government. Just because CFR publishes something does not make it government policy. That logic is the logic the left likes: W goes to Bob Jones University to give a speech; leftists think of BJU as racist; ergo, W is racist. Nonsense.
3. I don't know if anyone noticed, but Canada elected a Conservative government and is busily falling more in like with it now that it's taken power. The liberals are out and God willing will remain so.
4. Apply Occam's Razor. Which, really, is more likely: a) W is in a grand conspiracy with CFR and foreign leaders to destroy the country and absorb Canada and Mexico into some EU-like entity; or b) some people are piecing together selected bits of information, drawing wrong conclusions, and hyping up a theory? Hmm.
This sort of believing one's own hype stuff, wild accusations and "prove to me you've stopped beating your wife" style demands for explanations is the sort of lunacy Murtha and Pelosi indulge in. Tom T is FAR FAR better than that. His cause is a good one and it needs to be carried forward to fruition.
However, by voicing stuff like that, instead of focussing on reality, namely this year's bill and ensuring it's not a disaster, Tom is hurting his own cause!
"My congressman (Joe Schwartz) is one of those republicans who takes Soros money and I doubt Soros is paying him for conservative ideals."
Not for long; we're going to get rid of this RINO in the primaries!
I work with mentally ill. Just because he got treatment doesn't mean you shouldn't.
"Sounds like the nightly news. :)"
Yes ... not the model we want to emulate.
Here's a selected bit of information
From -Senate Bill S. 853 and similar to House Bill H.R. 2672
"SEC. 5. IMPROVING THE SECURITY OF MEXICO'S SOUTHERN BORDER. 3 (a) TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.--The Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Government of Mexico, shall establish a program to-- (1) assess the specific needs of Guatemala and Belize in maintaining the security of the borders of such countries; (2) use the assessment made under paragraph (1) determine the financial and technical support needed by Guatemala and Belize from Canada, Mexico, and the United States to meet such needs;) provide technical assistance to Guatemala and Belize to secure issuance of passports and travel documents by such countries; and (4) encourage Guatemala and Belize to-- (A) control alien smuggling and trafficking; (B) prevent the use and manufacture of fraudulent travel documents; and (C) share relevant information with Mexico, Canada, and the United States."
Why are members of the U.S. Congress proposing Bills that not only involve the United States, but also Canada, using the Office of The Secretary of State to improve the security of Mexico's Southern Border?
Shouldn't we at least be keeping an eye on such happenings? If for no other reason than to see how our tax dollars are being spend or planning to be spend.
Looks like tancredo is not, but what the hey you are the one who hitched his wagon to another murtha and pelosi.
No sweat off my brow..
Tom Tancredo was severely abused as a child which caused some early adult mental imbalance which was the reason for the deferral near 40 years ago. His Congressional record is nearly unparalleled and the voters in his conservative district keep re-electing him despite all of the lies and smears concocted by the Democrats that you keep spreading here.
Why do you hate people who teach our children? Why do you hate people with Italian surnames? Why do you hate Republicans with unmatched conservative voting records? Why do you hate people who were abused as children?
Huh, yet he smears other conservatives because they don't 100% agree with him on his, IMO, irrational hate of one ethnic group.
Why do you hate people who teach our children? Why do you hate people with Italian surnames? Why do you hate Republicans with unmatched conservative voting records? Why do you hate people who were abused as children?
OMG, where did you get the above from? Hillary's office?
No. I'm imitating you. Mocking your typical comments here on Free Republic. Go read your own disgusting posting history.
PING
No, he disagrees with some of their ideas and portions of their legislation. Smearing and hating is what you do to Rep. Tancredo who has earned a 100% "Best and Brightest" rating from the American Conservative Union.
What is so insulting to mention the truth that tom tancredo for 12 years made his living off the govt. teet(i.e being a Education dept. beaureaucrat), unless the Education dept. has all of the sudden become more popular that the Defense dept. amongst tancredo 'conservatives".
Why do you hate people who teach our children - especially those with Italian surnames?
