> I will always be loyal to Dixie and what it represented.

Enslaving your fellow man? Read up on the state Consititutions of the Confederates. It was quite clear what they represented.

Plus, it gets better:

"I just spoke with Alex Panchenko, the person who posted this item on eBay. Panchenko called to tell me that he had spoken with Salizhan Sharipov today and that Sharipov knew absolutely nothing about these flags. Panchenko told me that his source for these flags was a third party and not Sharipov. As such he is now convinced that these flags are not what they were presented as being and that they are forgeries.

"Moreover, Panchenko told me that he was unaware of the controversy that surrounds this flag in the U.S. until he consulted a history book. He told me that had he known what this flag represents to some people he would never have posted it on eBay in the first place or even consider selling it at all. Panchenko is now making certain that everyone knows that this was the result of an honest mistake and is trying to get eBay to pull the item off of its website."

So, you were made proud by not only a shameful symbol from America's past (that a foreigner was able to figure out witha few moments research), but also by fraud.

I'll take a guess the eBay items were not THE Confederate flag, which few would recognize if they tripped over it. The Battle Flag (see the Dukes of Hazard car) is all most know and that represents the army of Robert E Lee.

Personally I think the Battle Flag it's pretty and requires no apology or shame.

Your ignorance is showing.....

Those of us who grew up in the South, know better.

Today, as a Conservative, you are fighting for the exact same things, that the people in the South did 150 years ago.

The Federal government has abused it's powers under the Constitution and we must restore our citizen rights once again.

So under the law, the confederate states of america is an example of a failed state. [not to be confused with the canadian confederation's problems]

Therefor the confederat flag is a symbol of the failed state. A symbol of failure.

Additionally, the democrat party supported the confederate states of america. They vilified the republican president of the time.

Ironic that the party which celebrates personal failure, supported a failed state, and has a senator who adorns himself with the badges symbolizing the failure.

Just some observations...

(/s)

There is no point in getting upset over the confederate flag. It is just not worth it.

obviously, you are IGNORANT of history, have the intent to deceive your readers and/or are a "vicktum uv duh gubmint apruvd publick screwl sistim".

in point of fact, the percentage of slave-owners was about EQUAL in BOTH the north & south. the percentage was about 5-6% of the population.

neither region's hands are clean of the stain of chattel slavery!

What a polemic! DO you feel better now that you are hopefully over your hissy fit?

Yes there were bad things in confederate culture, but also there were many good things: tenacity, loyalty, chivalry, respect for the enemy, innovation in strategy, I could go on. Without the south our military would not be what it is today, full of many highly dedicated and loyal southerners.

Maybe you might consider having an enema to clear your mind so you might think more like a conservative instead of like a knee jerk liberal.

"Enslaving your fellow man? Read up on the state Consititutions of the Confederates. It was quite clear what they represented."

You have a need for a serious history lesson. Let me see if I can make it clear for you.

American Flag - Flew over slavery for around a hundred years, give or take a few.

Confederate Flag - Flew over slavery for 4 years.

American Flag - Flew over ships that brought slaves from Africa.

Confederate Flag - Flew over no slave ships.

American Flag - Flew over the utter destruction of the American Indians.

Confederate Flag - Nope.

Yes, the Confederate Constitution included slavery, but as I recall, the US Constitution did so as well, up to and including making slaves 3/5th human.

Your arguments are old and lame. If saying that the only reason not to fly the flag is slavery, then you'd better be prepared to hall down Ole Glory as well. In fact, you're probably going to be halling down the majority of the flags of the world, as one time or another, they've flown over slavery.
