Darn those discovery laws! Nifong had knit himself a grand case out of whole cloth, and now it's just unraveling before his very eyes. No wonder he's silent.

I'm beginning to suspect the WP and NYT printing articles about the Durham/Lacross case is the result of Bob Bennett's behind the scenes influence.

"Prosecutor's Silence on Duke Rape Case Leaves Public With Plenty of Questions"

Only one.

What is Nifong doing in a position of trust?

Nifong needs to burn for playing politics with peoples lives.

The media is the bane of our civilization. The way they report crime is a travesty. Whether you are looking at this case, or the OJ case, or the Aruba case, or the Runaway Bride, or the Haditha case, nothing good comes out of their pandering to the public's obsessions.

Despite the lack of evidence the slimes is straining in this article to make it appear that the guys are guilty. They just can give it up no matter what the evidence shows. Nothing in the article would lead a person to believe that the DA jumped to conclusions that were false, but simply hasn't gotten his evidence together yet.

Several references to being able to win the case, or not losing the case, but nothing about what is the correct and legal thing to do. Cases aren't about winning or losing(or shouldn't be) but about if the crime really occured and if so, are the ones charged that ones who actually did the crime.

In this case it is highly doubtful that a crime actually occured.

When this case blow up in his face I hope Nifong spend as much time trying to hang this lying young woman as he did persecuting the boys.

Anybody believe that will happen?.

I can't believe that the city of Durham would tolerate this BS or that the university would not call them on it. All it should take would be a single phone call from the president of the university to the mayor of Durham, NC, like:

"Uh, George old buddy, we've got a problem here, and you're going to have to get some sort of a handle on this prosecutor of yours and get him back on a short leash, and the basic problem is that I can't really look at the people who send their children to my school and tell them that just having the school in this city exposes them to malicious prosecutions.

If you can't get some sort of a handle on this guy and put a stop to this, I'm afraid I'm going to have no options other than to move the entire physical plant of Duke University to Greensboro North Carolina, and it's not easy to believe that would do the local economy here a whole lot of good."

"I have no doubt that Mike believes her," said H. Wood Vann

I'm beginning to wonder if Mikey had a previous relationship and or encounter with this woman. It would explain much.

The other day Greta listed several possibilities to explain Nifong going forward with this case, one being that he is insane.

All Nifong can do now is to postpone the inevitable charges of prosecutorial misconduct which could well end his career. Perhaps one reason he doesn't want a trial until next year.

Mr. Vann said Mr. Nifong could drop the case, but the political price would be high. "He'd have hell to pay from the African-American community," he said. "They'd say, 'Give her her day in court. What do you have to lose? If you lose, at least the jury made the decision.' So he's kind of stuck."

He just a white puppet, dancing on a string. Don Corleone had all the judges in his pocket. It seems the African-American special interests have all the prosecutors.

O J was guilty but he got a free pass. I did not like that but the margin of error should be with the guilty. In our system of justice it is better than one guilty go free than three innocent men be found guilty.

The fact that three innocent men might stand trial because the butt boy Nifong might have "hell to pay" with the African-American community is sickening. Innocent men have been found guilty of crimes they did not commit. But in those cases there was at least a crime.

There was no rape. NONE.

This crime is the liberal's wet dream, rich white boys gang raping of a woman of color and because of that they will not be deterred by the facts.

Mr. Nifong, so vocal at first, has refused to speak publicly about the case since the beginning of April.

I don't blame him. If I had committed as much prosecutor misconduct as he has up to now, I would be invoking my Fifth Amendment rights too.

Neither your money nor your complexion makes you automatically guilty of anything. This seems so obvious that it is painful to see how many people believe otherwise, as some of the responses to the rape charges against Duke University lacrosse players make all too clear.
