Very silly yellow for dissent. That is so retarded.

It's got you talking to yourself!

You don't get a dissent yellow in game 1 in group. Any ticky tacky yellow in the next two games and he is out. Why do it? Owen and Rooney are gimpy. Crouch does not need to risk England's chances by mouthing off.

I'm not particularly a soccer fan. Okay, I'm not really one at all, but I have a question.

In the World Cup, does one loss eliminate the team from competition, or is there a losers' bracket where you can possibly recover and continue?

This Mexican referee is terrible.

It's a group of four teams. The top two teams progress to the next round.

first stage (group stage) = 4 teams per group in a mini-league format. top 2 teams in each group advance.

second stage = single elimination (knockout)

Ok, there are 32 teams, in 8 groups of 4. They all play the other 3 teams in their group. The top two teams in each of the 8 groups after playing the 3 games advance.

You then have the final 16 and it becomes single elimination games from that point until the winner is declared.

Your team will play 3 games minimum, 7 games maximum.

THIS is the England style! Width and possession!

Honestly, as a baseball coach from time to time I have to consul parents of youths that maybe, just maybe, their child was meant to play soccer.

One mom went into a deep depression. One dad became despondant and later suicidal.

Almost anybody can kick a soccer ball, but few can hit a good fastball.

Finally a good attack by England.

And Fat Frank hit a decent shot :-)

Great save. I think it might have hit the bar though untouched.

Yes, I am sure between standing between pitches, standing around between pitchers, sitting during the middle of the inning, sitting while you wait for the other 8 people to hit, there is some skill in baseball.

What pisses me off is that soccer fans don't flame baseball threads, but folks like you ALWAYS have to come here and pee in the cornflakes. You don't like soccer. Fine, then don't watch it.

PS - one side effect of baseball appears to be poor spelling.

Yay metric football!

Isn't there a rodeo or a padded-suit lumber swat or a magic the Gathering tournament on ESPN 14 or something? There's nothing else on that's worth watching...

We get it. You hate soccer. Now that you've established that, shoo.

Amazing because the goalie is nowhere near the ball, yet he is falling to the ground? ;)

Honestly, I'm not a futbol fan, but I'm trying to give it a chance. After all, the majority of the world can't be wrong, right? Well, of course they could...but that doesn't matter.

Anyway, one of the things that gets me about futbol is all of the dramatic falling and rolling. I don't get it.

Just for reference, I don't get why the NBA allows so much traveling and carrying. I don't get why NFL players will make a tackle and act like they just climbed Everest...even though their team is down by 28.

Baseb all, on the other hand, is perfect.

Dunno. Didn't your wife share her weekend schedule with you?
