Well, my Dad's family is like that. He doesn't look like any of his 3 sisters, and none of them look like each other.

I'm an only child, so I don't know any thing about it.

If you are a male parent, please do not hesitate to be the dad and scare off any unsuitable males.

My sister was spoiled in that sense, since she had a male parent along with my brother and I to scare off any young males, suitable or otherwise. :)

Wonderful Pix Barb! How lucky you were there to be part of it. I was there in the DC funeral section. Who is the man in last pix? think you said hubby was in Iraq. Is that your sis' hub? Thanks so much for sharing them.

Love the "tombstone".. will need to put a bunch of our photos on the nuts & bolts thread for easy retreval by all.

(sorry for not responding last night..my flickering power caused me to shut down early).

thank you for the article/link. I am embarrased to say I don't even recall this event. At the time I was living out of the country (for two years actually) & really did NOT have news perse. The Panamanian version of TV was My Little Margie & three stooges reruns. complete w/spanish subtitles.

I appreciate you sharing this. Amazing pix & such a loss of life & homes/businesses. I will send this out to some on my email list today.

Paddlefish? another kayaker? There are a couple of us on this thread who paddle for fun

Welcome to the discussion & dont ever think a topic is a downer. We cover a lot of bases here depending on what is going on wiht folks & who visits

Jumping in on the "dad" scaring off dates discussion. It was a long time ago but I recall quite a few guys came over to "see me" but really liked to be with my dad. He had a wonderful sense of humor, would spend time with them looking at their cars, helping them with car problems. Also he would putter in his shop & they would hang out there. Looking back, it was nice & funny but at the time I felt a bit jealous I suppose. He made them feel welcome & befriended many. Now I realize how good it is for strong men to be there & help young guys find their way & set an example.

Well, need to tackle the day here.. BBL

I haven't lost any animals yet, but both of mine are getting up there in years( dog is 10, cat is 14.)

Yeah, I have a few geriactric cats myself, Pansy will be 19 in August, Corky just turned 17, and Buddha is 16 (he was deathly ill 6 weeks ago but we pulled him out of it and he is doing great), Pixie 13 or 14 and the younger set, Spunky, the mother, is 6 and her two surviving kittens are both 5, Whitey (girl) and G.W. "Dubya" (boy). We lost Greystone, who was the third kitten in April, he was barely 5, due to kidney failure. Both young and older are doing OK, Pansy has a hyperactive thyroid so she will be on meds the rest of her life, but as long as she has them, she is OK. I've had her since 1987 when I was in college and ditto Corky (1989).

DollyCali, I know it is tough but hang in there, myself, when I was at work, I almost had tears in my eyes over Greystone, it came out of the blue, the only thing that saved me was I had a job to do and it was year closing so shifting my mind helps but not entirely. There is one side of me that feels I was screwed, but another side says perhaps I wasn't, I had good luck with the others as you can see but I was thinking more of Greystone, the little guy deserved more time on Earth. Maybe God had a purpose for him to come up to the Rainbow Bridge, I dunno. I guess be thankful for the time you have/had with your pets.

Yes, I have tendinitis of both wrists, and mild carpal tunnel in both wrists. Guess that's what comes from doing medical transcription for almost 30 years, starting out on old, monster manual typewriters.

MollyPitcher/Ohio & The Raven/Tennessee(in town for meetings) and I had lunch at Aladdin's, a mid-eastern restaurant in Akron. The Raven has posted here on occasion.

Hi Dolly and everyone.

Another busy weekend for me. Just came back from playing tennis, swimming is next and dinner is later, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I just wanted to say hi, and let you know that your thread is a really nice tribute to Ronald Reagan - thanks much or posting it. They favorite song -Ronald and Nancy- by the way, was “Our love is here to stay.”

I don't know if I'll make it here tonight, if not, I'll see you tomorrow.
