DIXIE CHICKS SCRAP MEMPHIS SHOW DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST

Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS have been forced to scrap an upcoming show in Memphis, Tennessee, because locals don't want to see the girls live.

It seems Memphis music fans still haven't forgiven the WIDE OPEN SPACES hitmakers' comments about US President GEORGE W BUSH in 2003.

Singer NATALIE MAINES became a target for Republicans and Bush fans after she declared she was ashamed to come from the same state (Texas) as the President during a concert in London.

Her bandmates were then ostracised for supporting their outspoken singer, and the group's music was banned from some US country music radio stations and their records trampled underfoot at public protests.

And, even though the Chicks have scored a number one album in America with their new release, TAKING THE LONG WAY, it seems many former fans refuse to forgive them.

The trio pulled the September (06) show in Memphis due to poor ticket sales and it looks as if the same fate could befall concerts in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas. Tickets for both arena shows are failing to sell. Ironically, the trio landed the top-grossing country tour of 2003 when they last performed across America - after the comments made in London.

Bon Jovi wouldn't have had a #1 hit if he hadn't teamed up with Nettles.

I think the recent report that The Ditzy Tits album was #1 was a typo. #100 would be more like it.

That'd be like the owner of a football team saying he'd rather have a small number of fans attending his games who "get it".

No, I think George Soros and Moveon.org purchased 3/4 of them.

Tennesee Waltz, Dixie Chicks cancelled, Willie preparing to get pummelled by a pro - Memphis may be making a turnaround... I may not have to leave the county after all...

I'm deeply saddened.

Maybe they can make some more money stripping for the Dems on The Hill after hours. The Dem Congress Critters can even use the Chicksie Dicks' own tax money to stuff in their G-strings. Then, Swimmer K can take them for a late night drive.
