Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS have been forced to scrap an upcoming show in Memphis, Tennessee, because locals don't want to see the girls live.
It seems Memphis music fans still haven't forgiven the WIDE OPEN SPACES hitmakers' comments about US President GEORGE W BUSH in 2003.
Singer NATALIE MAINES became a target for Republicans and Bush fans after she declared she was ashamed to come from the same state (Texas) as the President during a concert in London.
Her bandmates were then ostracised for supporting their outspoken singer, and the group's music was banned from some US country music radio stations and their records trampled underfoot at public protests.
And, even though the Chicks have scored a number one album in America with their new release, TAKING THE LONG WAY, it seems many former fans refuse to forgive them.
The trio pulled the September (06) show in Memphis due to poor ticket sales and it looks as if the same fate could befall concerts in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas. Tickets for both arena shows are failing to sell. Ironically, the trio landed the top-grossing country tour of 2003 when they last performed across America - after the comments made in London.
;o)
ROFL. Hoping and praying that the Weekly World News calls for an interview.
Does she have one of those too? What is it with American "progressives" and multimillion dollar mansions?
I detect some friction.
The text says: "Her bandmates were then ostracised.."
Bet the other two bimbos are wishing old Nat had kept her trap shut.
Instead of man hands, they have man faces.
If they had any brains they'd ditch her and find another lead singer.
LOL! Must be that new 'Hate the Right Diet'....makes 'em look road hard....
True, but they don't have any brains.
Obviously.
And my freedom od dis-association.
I have a feeling the Chicks are already regretting that comment.
ROFL!
But like the has been Bon Jovi, VH1 will keep pretending they are popular.
Yes. And no need for a gun. Her private security detail handles that.
I bet their agent is ready to drop them.
I'm betting so as well. Seeing about 1/20th of the cash they used to get.
Considering they said they'd prefer to have a select group of only ten fans, it is obvious they don't have a single brain among the lot of them.
(Okay, so they said "maybe ten million", but they don't even have that.)
