Country trio the DIXIE CHICKS have been forced to scrap an upcoming show in Memphis, Tennessee, because locals don't want to see the girls live.
It seems Memphis music fans still haven't forgiven the WIDE OPEN SPACES hitmakers' comments about US President GEORGE W BUSH in 2003.
Singer NATALIE MAINES became a target for Republicans and Bush fans after she declared she was ashamed to come from the same state (Texas) as the President during a concert in London.
Her bandmates were then ostracised for supporting their outspoken singer, and the group's music was banned from some US country music radio stations and their records trampled underfoot at public protests.
And, even though the Chicks have scored a number one album in America with their new release, TAKING THE LONG WAY, it seems many former fans refuse to forgive them.
The trio pulled the September (06) show in Memphis due to poor ticket sales and it looks as if the same fate could befall concerts in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas. Tickets for both arena shows are failing to sell. Ironically, the trio landed the top-grossing country tour of 2003 when they last performed across America - after the comments made in London.
Hey, by the way, do you know why the term "PMS" was chosen?
"Mad cow" was already taken. (Cha-boom)
Oh, I agree! I just wonder how long it will be before she comes crawling onto the dock, on bloody knees, blubbering, "come back, I'm sorry, I didn't really mean it..."
Unless its this kind. It's like an article telling peeople that all your movies have bombed.
I second that emotion.
OUCH!
Idiot remark. The tickets were already sold and a lot of people wanted their money back but no refunds were given.
Or offer them a beer, while his men have a whiskey.
Al truly is the cure for global warming. All he has to do is show up with his comical slide show, and the mercury heads south.
If the stock market recovers this will be a very very good day!!!!
Soon. When the mortgage is due on her 10 million dollar mansion.
She ain't no Carrie Underwood.
It will. My guess is big spikes and soon.
LOL! Now that's low!!
And MANY stayed home.
I hope it's the start of a trend...
Yep. What a clown.
PREMATURE AGING?
Studies have shown that the bitterness of liberalism is one of the
the leading causes of premature aging in women under 35. We can
help. Call 1-800-RNC-2006 for details and a free brochure.
Something tells me we won't see this story on a CMT newsbreak.
