I think it was a communication gap as I clearly thought they were stunned by his appearance. It sounded to me as there were few people on this set. He is a weird-o but you cannot deny his talent. Such a shame.
The desperation is depressing. Why does he have no insight into his behavior or personality? His ego blinds him to his own narcissistic greed for recognition and affirmation.
