"Grottoes" (grottos?) can be both natural, man-made, or man-modified. Searching for grotto images finds many of these categories. This one struck me as pretty impressive, on the island of Malta. I had to shrink the image a bit; click on it for the full-size image. The second shot is of the notable tourist attraction Blue Grotto of Capri, Italy. There are a lot of pictures on the Web of this place; I couldn't find what I felt was a great one. The glow of the underwater illumination is pretty good; it appears that there is a considerable photographic challenge in capturing the glow and the ambient light.

That's an amazing photo!
Reminds me of a show I watched as a kid. These people row a boat up into a grotto and end up in a land of dinosaurs. NO...it wasn't Land of the Lost. It was a serial that they use to show on Channel 5 in Charleston on the Happy Raine show. Charlestonians and lucky Savannahians will remember her as the Piggly Wiggly lady also.
I've been in the Blue Grotto in Capri.*Very* impressive...and dark enough so that getting good shots is difficult.
These are really spiffy pictures. Reminds me of Arches National Park and the Star Trek movie when the whole ship was inside a rock or some such thing. Anyway, the pictures are great!
I remember that same show too! There's a trivia question for ya.
That photo from the condor sanctuary is amazing. Can't believe it's just down the road near Fillmore!
