OK, I'll take a stab (I'm an amateur...)
There's definitely something to be said about the "rejection" idea. I also think women tend to take a little longer in the "healing" process. In my experience, women tend to look more to themselves and recovering from a relationship, whereas most men just want to get back in the game. If the guy starts seeing someone before the woman does, we take it as an affront to the whole relationship. Basically, since the guy moved on, the relationship had less meaning to them than the woman.
Amatuer two cents!

Digger is my Blue heeler, a female I've had since she was a
pup, Shorty is a jack bauer terrior, who walked in last
friday night and wouldn't leave. Cute little guy white and
black seems to have made himself right at home.

I'm not going to necessarily disagree with you on this, but this hasn't been my experience in these matters.

Often men or women who go too quickly to the "next" relationship before healing are at a very big disadvantage.
They do so to
1) show the other person !!!
2) They're lonely
3) They are told that is the best way to get over a love affair.
In most cases it comes back to kick you. sometimes it takes a year or more but the new relationship is at a severe disadvantage if healing hasn't occurred.
When a relationship ends one must really introspect & grow & learn from it. *BTW.. this is any relationship.. NOT just love.. it could be a work relationship, family, friendship.
Now need to feed my cats, dogs, mom & self!
