"Of course they use the weed to smoke the meth..."

I'm not sure what that means. Weed and meth are pretty much polar opposites, as far as I can tell. One's a sedative and one's a stimulant.

You are correct, though. My cousin is a LEO and when they bust meth users, those who smoke it tend to have tubular glass pipes. Back in my weed-smoking days in college I owned two glass pipes. Both were of a pretty conventional pipe shape, just made out of blown glass. Glass is easy to clean and does not burn or hold heat for very long. Back in those days, I preferred glass pipes to any other method of smoking pot. Granted, I have not been in the loop for some time so things may have changed.

If the kid was using meth, God help him. I have heard some horror stories. Either way, the kid broke the law. Regardless of anyone's beliefs about such things, it is against the law. He made his choices, as did I, and should pay the concsequences for choosing to break the law and getting caught.

Didn't mean to write you a book. Just a little insight from a former pot smoker.

"However, I have a sneaking suspicion that these Duke players may be getting extra attention, even some stalking, by Nifong's flunkies."

You think Nifong has the Chapel Hill police department some how tailing the cars of lacrosse players from bars?

At this point I'm not convinced the drugs were his. Two months ago I never would have even considered the possibility they were planted.

I really doubt the Chapel Hill police department had any idea this guy was a laxer when they pulled him over. And I really doubt that even if they did they'd be in some plot with a DA from a different county and a different city to get the kid.

Two months ago I never would have believed a town like Durham could exist in this country. The depth of corruption is incredible and I suspect we have only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Many of the police in Durham have worked in other police departments. I'm sure they know their counterparts in Chapel Hill. It's possible they were looking for him or other players still living in the area.

Keep in mind: In Durham during the last election, 8 of the 17 candidates for mayor or city council had police records; the police were running a prostitution ring 15 years ago;they still might be running one; the police harrass potential witnesses, e.g., cab driver; a detective in the police criminal investigation unit was charged recently with scamming up to 100k in a real estate scandal. He is still working in that unit.

I could go on and on. Plant evidence? You bet.

This is not beyond the realm of possibility.

There are more than a few others who agree with your comments. Shows how much damage a corrupt and stupid DA can do to damage the credibility of the justice system.

It's too bad the local rags aren't as interested in publishing the arrest histories of Mangum and her friends, such as Carl Brian Taylor.

IMO, the best way to handle these rags is to ignore them except when they publish something the defense has said or is doing.

I really feel sorry for the families of the four young men who were murdered execution-style last November while at home in their townhouse, who are no closer to the case being solved now than they were then, who have to sit back and suck up the fact that DPD is too busy chasing lax players for comparatively minor violations. One of the fathers was on Hannity the other night and he spoke eloquently about what a crime-ridden cesspool Durham has become.

Oh, but, golly-gee, they gotta keep them Duke boys in line, Public Enemies that they are. If they wanted to impact the crime rate, they should try following some NCCU boys around for awhile. I wonder how they're coming on solving which NCCU guys beat the hell out of that Duke student at that hamburger joint shortky after the whore's case broke.

Having said that, the lax guys should be smart enough to know they're being watched like hawks. One would think that to get into Duke they would have enough mental acument to figure this out. If this player thought doing this in another county would be cool, he's stupid. Did he really think he was far enough away that if he got into trouble it wouldn't fall on the rest of the team struggling to get out from under Nifong the Psycho and the black political machine in Durham? Duh.

The part that can affect the case is the drug angle. I can see Nifong or certain elements within DPD getting Mangum or The Embezzler to say that this guy who got arrested was the one mixing the drinks at the party.

How convenient.
