There will only be one David Ruffin and the group he led - The Temptations. Ruffin died today 15 years ago of a drug overdose. His driver took him to the hospital and dropped him off. At first no one knew who he was...a few days later family members claimed his body.
There are lot of websites dedicated to The Temptations, David Ruffin, Motown music, and the era that produced the music.
Motown Ping
In those day love songs were popular.
He had a fine voice. What a sad ending.
Those songs were fine...and still are.
I sometimes refer my students - generation born in the 70s and 80s mostly - to Motown music - and they always say how much they love it and wish it could come back.
NO doubt the best. Try posting your picture again...I can't see it.

No one rational couldn't love it.
My seven year old LOVES it!
Sweet, easy to dance to, nice words and message.
Compared to today ... I now understand why people get in time warps when it comes to music. Todays music is trashy.
Sadly, Dave Prater was killed in an auto wreck in 1988....
Sam Moore..circa 1977 at the Texas Opry House, Houston, Texas....
As I remember....fuzzy pix courtesy of beer and a Canon FX that has been dropped....wetted with beer (etc, and likely dropped and juggled between biggus breastusses....)
A little of the pure magic David and the Tempts here---video.

As I recall, Eddie Kendricks passed away soon after.
Thank you.
That was very nice. Brought back pleasant memories.
OH thanks... Just incredible music. I did not now Sam had passed on.
That concert must have been memorable to say the least.
When David Ruffin was dismissed from The Tempts in 1968, Eddie Kendricks changed, upset with the attitudes of some of the group members, and he formed an alliance with David outside the group.
Thanks for the reminder, eleni121. The Sound Of Young America, at its best.
Nice to hear from you ...it's been awhile.
A little of the genius at work---you've seen and heard this probably:

Nice to hear from you too, eleni. Thanks so much for the video clip. Hard to believe that they could dance like that and still sing so beautifully. It still looks fresh 40 years after the fact. Thanks again -- hope you got to listen to some of those other Motown recommendations like Brenda Holloway and The Elgins!!
