Imagine: you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians.

Talktoaction.org is the "faith based" equivalent of Moveon.org. If you go to their website, other items of interest to them are "the war on judicial independence" and the "war on reproductive rights."
Your typical gay marriage endorsing, episcolutherodist churchians.
I checked the game and it says nothing about converting them to card-carrying Republicans. It does turn the heathen into a suit-wearing man with a halo.
Yeah, don't do it.

Left Behind: Eternal Forces (PC)
Based on the renowned series of Christian-faith novels about the aftermath of the Rapture and the lives left behind in the ensuing turmoil after those who are saved by their faith in God are gone. Left Behind: Eternal Forces will put players in command of the apocalyptic battles raging in the streets of New York City between the angelic Tribulation Forces and the demonic Global Community Peacekeepers during the End of Days. Gamers will participate in events from the Left Behind book series in single player mode and battle to capture territory from other players in the multi-player online game mode.
The report from Talk2Action is very inaccurate about the nature of the game.
It does not involve establishing a theocracy and you are penalized for killing, not rewarded.

I think the coverage is a bit biased. The game apparently is set after the Rapture and the combat is chiefly against the forces of the Antichrist.
Of course there are bad Catholics who won't be saved, but that goes for all other Christian and non-Christian denominations as well, and I am angry at the contempt this developer has for Catholics as to lump the group of as a whole into the Antichrist's army. I know this does not coincide with the vast majority of how Evangelicals believe, but who is this guy to go around and judge? Thats my beef here, and I do agree that this coverage is biased. I hope it is not true.
This is a hit piece posted on an anti-conservative Christian website.
In other words, utter BS.
I admit I know nothing of the site I found this one, I actually found it when I was surfing through DU to see what they're up to.
Theoden? I didn't know you were Catholic! ;-)
Yeah, I don't know if that's really in the game, but unfortunately some fundamentalists sit around debating things like, "Are Catholics saved?" which can lead to some amusement when the more rational ones ask, "Are fundamentalists saved?"
It's still very crass at the very least. As a Catholic, I take the Apocolypse very seriously, and making a game out of it trivializes it to the point of near blasphemy.
And that's ignoring the heretical nature of modern Evangelical eschatology.
I had a similar reaction to those Jesus "action figures" I've seen being sold by some Evangelical outfits.
Let's see. Crass on one hand and muderous-rampage on the other?
I'm not too bothered by crass in light of things.
Well, I guess it doesn't bother me all that much provided it doesn't get too widespread. If this game sells a million copies, it will upset me.
Surprise surprise, there is a Purpose Driven connection.
Who is Mr Warren? Why he's the savior of the stick in the mud church, that's who he is!
Tongue planted firmly in cheek of course.
