Boy, is that true about God answering prayer, sometimes in quite surprising ways!

I pray a good bit about letting God's will be done...conforming my will to his...That is what I want to do...i wish I were better at it!

Prayer of Ignatius of Loyola:

Teach us, Good Lord,

To serve you as you deserve.

To give and not count the cost.

To fight and not heed the wounds.

To toil and not to seek for rest.

To labor and not to ask for any reward

Except that of knowing that we do Your Will.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Morning Prayer bump!

O Lord,
this day we lift up our nation,
our leaders,
those who shape policy and decision.
Lead them with your wisdom, Lord,
convict the hearts of those who need your healing,
strengthen them when they need to stand firm,
and teach them your ways
so that we might have a nation
to carry out your will.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank You, Merciful Father, for those whose prayers ascend to the Throne of Grace ... look with mercy upon our desire for the best for our nation ... restore unto us the Rule of Law and Order ... teach our leaders to walk in Your way ... thwart any plan that would hinder and harm us ... how we covet to again be what once we were ... One Nation Under God. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, may it be so ... Amen

A midmorning prayer ping, just because this scripture jumped out at me:

For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

And before him no creature is hidden, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Hebrews 4:12-13 RSV

Lord, you who know our hearts,
help us to follow you more nearly,
to see you more clearly,
to love you more dearly.

Lord, it feels like we are at a major turning point in our nation's history, and heavy handed are our enemies, both within and out.

We ask your mercy.

Guide each and every one who must make decisions about our country's future, from the highest power in the land, to the least person thinking of voting or writing a letter.

Open the eyes of those who mean well, but would push us further away from being the people you would have us be, and let them envision the dark consequences of their choices. Embolden the conviction of those who are on the path of where you would have us go. Strengthen those you have chosen to be beacons of light for those looking for the right path to go.

Above all, Lord, we plead for your forgiveness and mercy for those who are walking in darkness, that there will be workers in the field to lead them into the light, and that your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

In the name of Jesus, our great High Priest and Savior, who told us to boldly knock, seek, ask, Amen.

The Cross

A young man was at the end of his rope, seeing no way out,
he dropped to his knees in prayer "Lord, I can't go on,"
he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight,
just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that
other door and pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief and said, "Thank you Lord,"
and he did as he was told.

Upon entering the other room, he saw many crosses;
some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he
spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered.
The Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross
you just brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming,
it helps to look around and see what other
people are coping with. You may consider
yourself far more fortunate
than you imagined.

Dear God,

Thank You.
You were, You are, You will be forever.

THANK YOU LORD.

I am praying for our borders today.
I am thinking of the dark and evil hearts of
terrorists outside our borders and possibly
terrorists within our borders.

I am praying today for the protection for our
country and for Your people.

I am praying for Israel today.

I know that people who hate Israel are often
the same people who hate The United States.

I am praying for the terrorists today.
Soften their hearts.
Have them look toward Your Light Lord.

I humbly pray this prayer in Jesus' Holy name.

Your will be done.

Amen.

Morning Prayer Vigil Ping!

Lord God of Hosts, within Whose hand
Dominion rests on sea and land,
Before Whose word of life or death
The strength of nations is but breath:
O King, enthroned all thrones above,
Give strength unto the land we love.

Thou Breath of Life since time began,
Breathing upon the lips of man,
Hast taught each kindred race to raise
United word to sound Thy praise:
So, in this land, join, we beseech,
All hearts and lips in single speech.
