Hello FReepers. I am done with my grad school classes for the summer so I have some time to get back to reading for enjoyment.
Just looking for some suggestions. I am a 30 year old male btw, so no romance novels. Are you reading anything interesting? Let me know. Fiction, nonfiction, whatever. I love Tom Clancy but am looking to diversify.
Thanks for you help!
tf...
The Bible.
The Road to Serfdom - F.A. Hayek
To Rule the Waves by Arthur Herman. Non-fiction.
A novel by George R. Stewart Copyright 1949
Earth Abides.
I recommend it.

History for me.
What is you major?
Check out Rush Limbaugh's book list - there's a great guy he talks about a lot. Flynn is his last name .. and he's written some great novels. He was recruited by the TV program "24" to write some of their scripts.
Rush loves his books - that might be a place to start. I'm sure Amazon would have his books and all you would need would be the last name of Flynn to do a search.
hmmm. the good book, huh? not really my idea of a light summer read. new testament, old testament, King James? i don't really know anything about it.
criminal justice. i'm a cop and my job pays for a certain number of classes at a local college. just finished my 4th class. terrorism. pretty interesting stuff.
Mark Bowden-"Blackhawk Down"
Patrick O'Brian: The Aubrey/Marturin series.
I second the Earth Abides.
Also, the Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz
just read the synopsis. seems pretty cool. i'll take a look.
As for the Bible, I would recommend maybe the New International Version, and starting with Matthew in the New Testament, and just continuing from there.
Aside from the Bible, I would recommend Michael Crichton's State of Fear - a great read, and it spends some time ripping on the radical environmentalist movement. I also enjoy anything by Dean Koontz; I would start with maybe Life Expectancy.
Why start in the middle of the Bible? The fist chapter is Genesis.
fist=first
Looking for fact or fiction?
Matthew is a good, succinct telling of the life of Christ, and I think it's a good introduction. That said, Genesis is the first, and it provides much of the foundation of what comes later. It's also a good place to start.
"Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield - an excellent read, about the battle of Thermopylae.
I see your point.
