Donna Havens recently brought this guitar to a workshop in Albany, NY. A friend of mine was attending and he saw it up close and personal. I know there's plenty of guitar pickers here at FR (and I'm one myself) so I figured I'd show this around. It's a really, really cool guitar, no matter whether you are a Red Sox fan or not.

That's some lovely craftsmanship. I was hoping for humbuckers though! ;-)
LOL! ManRam.
Dang...that's some serious guitar porn. I've seen Harvey Leach's inlay work before - he does some amazing stuff (I confess I don't care about sports, though...)
But ooooh, that walnut! *drool* Like the binding, too.
1918. Downright surreal.
I've heard of wood from old buildings being used for instruments as well; also wood from submerged timber. It's something I love about wood instruments...not only do they have a history of their own, but they also have the history of where the wood came from. Gives them a bit of a spirit, ya know? If that doesn't sound kooky.
My Dad plays violin, and his instrument is over a hundred years old. Neat to think where it may have been and what it's seen.
For your enjoyment.

Red Sox fan though I am, I think I'll stick with my old (1980) reliable Gibson SG Custom, thanks. ;)
Several years ago I picked up a Martin Mahogany Dreadnought.
Of all the Martins I looked at that day, this one by far had the richest sound.
I won't tell you that I sold my Gretsch White Falcon, for $100.00 while in college.
That's another story....aggghhhhh

Outstanding work.
Abalone shell base line and Red Sox eclipse of the Yankee moon just awesome.
