Thank You. Yes, that is the posting that I was referring to.
I remembered you pointed that out. Exactly, still looms large is the sordid mess.
I agree. The one big advantage the Duke guys have are (1) the ability to start and keep lawsuits in other jurisdictions, and (2) the ability to fund them.
She is not going to last until trial anyway, so you want to help her get there faster. Sue her, sue her father, sue anyone else who has slandered the players, and make them come answer. Then make them sit for videotape depositions.
Make her sit down in a civil proceeding, without Nifong there to protect his interests, and prove he's acted unethically, if not illegally.
Duke alums of means should pony up the money to launch such an offensive. Unless there is a civil case, she never has to explain herself, except in a venue where she will be most protected.
Yes, Kim was there long before CGM.
I recall something about Kim already being mad because CGM was so late, and CGM showed up already in her underwear, apparently a big faux pas.
Kim could certainly have been calling CGM.
That makes sense and fits with the caller saying the show was about to be cancelled.
Kim did arrive first. They could very well have been from Kim.
Many have speculated that Kim and the AV knew each other, could that, if true, be the smoking gun? She may have known her as Nikki, but the only reason people thought they didn't know each other was Crysal's word (what is that worth?).
Kim was interested in the money, even Crystal said Kim didn't want to leave (still money to be had probably). The neighbor statement has Kim talking Crystal into going in with her at one point. Kim wanted the payday and she very well could've been the one making the calls.
But, wait - didn't her Father say she was buying a Rosary at the neigborhood store around that time!
Just a scenario...Kim was ready to go...so did Crystal tell Kim to "wait for me...Let me see if I can get Brian again" by a call from the bathroom? It sure looks like Kim was NOT supposed to be her driver after the "strip".
When Brian "Driver" Taylor supposedly met Mangum at a Super Bowl party 2 years ago, Carl Brian Taylor was in prison. Of couse, he could be lying.
It's a pain in the a$$ to have to do the media's job for them. Does the driver have a record or not? Does he have a job? Is this the guy or not?
Let's see a show of hands from all of you who would call this person, not mommy or daddy or brother but Mr. 50plus Arrests, to run over at 7:00 and pick up your pre-teen son and daughter?
Keep them up high, I'm counting....
The only thing that bothers me about that Carl Brian Taylor is that, unless I missed it, he doesn't have anything on his rap sheet from Durham. That doesn't mean that he didn't move and due to the purposeful obfuscation of the News and Observer, we don't know that he lives in Durham now.
The other Gang-Rape and beating of the AV was not in Durham county.
Yes, before I read your post I was wondering about all his criminal history being outside Durham. We don't know.
We don't know.
If you file a lawsuit in an area where there is a pending criminal case, won't the judge just delay the civil case until the criminal case is resolved?
Most convenient stores have surveillance cameras but I suppose NiFong has taped BenHur over it.
Her father can take the kids to school, can't he?
I'm still lost on the need to pick up the kids or check on them.....
This is beginning to sound like the new pilot for PIMPS UP, HOs DOWN on HBO.
Holy cow! This guy has a record longer than I've ever seen!
You made some good points.
Even if this "Carl" is NOT the guy, there's a reason the N&O didn't offer basic information on a critical character in this Nationally prominent case. It also appears they went to lengths to hide his identity, not even listing his age or city of residence. This is no accident.
We can't be sure of his identity without some more information, but a close examination of that News and Observer article reveals that only certain information was provided and most was not revealed. It strains incredulity
to believe that Brian Taylor was not asked if they got high or drank, what time he dropped her off, and if they were intimate that evening.
I think this story has an Oz.
Sure. That's why you want to file in the home county and state of a player, get a friendly judge and the hometown crowd. Make Crystal Meth come there to file a motion to abate, then use the motion as a chance to depose Crystal Meth. I want her under oath and in front of a judge in another state.
Anything in North Carolina gets blocked, as you noted.
You and I are thinking in terms of how we would react in a similar situation of leaving our children with the grandparents on a school night and going to a dinner or party etc.
It appears that everything this woman does is counter to what a "rational" person would do. She wanted her kids picked up early on the 14th for a reason. I doubt she wanted bubba to take them to school.
Would your parents give your kids to a someone they barely know, and if they did know him, they had to know he was an ex-con. She would have had to call mommy and daddy to have them release the kids to this idiot.
She must have been very desperate to have done that. The only thing I can think of that made her that desperate was the fear of losing the kids to CPS. Nothing else really makes sense..
By omitting his age, occupation and place of residence, it gives the impression he has something to hide.
Bissey is a key witness in this case and we learned his age and occupation. Why did the N&O treat Taylor differently?
My 2 cents,
I think a civil suit can proceed independently. I believe the reason the criminal goes before the civil if for maximum damages in the civil case. Strategic reasons.
I'm interested in hearing what the lawyers say, but I know of many civil cases where the police, in their discretion, did not hand anything up to the DA, but a Civil case still proceeded and was won.
You are saying it gets blocked, BECAUSE a criminal trial may be pending? Or because of other reasons?
