The woman who has accused three Duke University men's lacrosse players of raping her failed to identify at least one of them in a photo array eight days after the reported attack, according to a motion filed Friday by defense attorneys. The motion also says that she then selected him as an attacker more than two weeks later.

I had a moment to get something from Psychology Today which will help you better understand why women have the rape fantasy more than men. Not lesbians, of course, but straight women, fantasize about forced sex.
From Psychology Today, read it and weep.

"Dominance and submission fantasies.
In these, sexual power is expressed either ritualistically--in sadomasochistic activities--or through physical force, as in rape fantasies. Such fantasies are surprisingly common. Person reports that 44 percent of men have had fantasies of dominating a partner. Other studies found that 51 percent of women fantasized about being forced to have sex, while a third imagined: "I'm a slave who must obey a man's every wish."
None of this means, of course, that real-world rape victims "really want it."
"Women who find submission fantasies sexually arousing are very clear that they have no wish to be raped in reality," say Leitenberg and Henning. In their fantasies, women control every aspect of what occurs. And their scenarios are far less brutal than real-life attacks. Typically the fantasy involves an attractive man whose restraint is simply overwhelmed by the woman's attractiveness. These fantasies serve the same psychological purpose as scenes of irresistibility. "It's different means to the same end" says Leitenberg. "We want to be desired."
If memory serves, that was a major debate between the print media and national black leaders. I seem to remember a complaint being lodged some 20 or so years ago that the only criminals making the news were black -- or at least were in far larger proportion that whites.
It was at that time that far, far fewer pictures were posted in an effort to assuage the black community who feared their moral authority was being eroded. Privately, many in the print news business had a difficult time coming up with enough whites to fill pages with crime stories, so now no one is identified as to race. We can all see how effective that's been.
As a P.S. I grew up in the news business -- father International VP of the Newspaper Guild -- traveled everywhere on "Guild" business with Dad. I do not have a racist bone in my body (or head, as the case may be), but seem to remember the confrontation and the angst among the lefties who tried to slant the facts to give "dignity" to those folks who were painted with the same broad brush. Of course, I was a mere child at the time -- ;-).
I don't question your memory of that debate, but apparently the results of it didn't filter down to the local small town newspaper. They published pictures, physical descriptions and crime committed. I left there about 6 years ago so do not have any up to date information regarding this. Just that my very informal study indicated that 90% of the crime was generated by one racial group and it wasn't white.
I'm sure that's probably true. Most of the folks we ran with were the big city papers - NY Times, Washington Times, St. Louis Post Dispatch and the Globe Democrat, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune & Sun - Canadian Papers, and at that time NBC and CBS affiliates who were owned by publishers. I'd be surprised if the smaller towns were part of the debate.
Hit the link I saw on the CourtTV web paer to read about another Durham rape prosecution with very unusual deal making and no evidence:

Saw that earlier. Did you read about the arrest in Durham over the weekend for rape? The accused tried to run from the police but was apprehended. His bond was set at $150,000. Guess he wasn't a flight risk, huh.
The link is positively nauseating. Don't get me started. I know I've damn-near worn out my welcome on FR since I started writing about our own tale of woe. I have never, never regretted my family's sacrifice more than at this time, because it never entered our minds that the moral depravity of the old world would follow us here. It never occurred to any of us that we would be the victims of a corrupted, a-moral system. It never occurred to any of us that we would be classified as non-Christians. I've read more bullcrap written by so-called historians about my family than I'd care to process here. What a load of sheepdip!
I did see the bond set that low over the weekend. The judge did say that $400,000 was within the range. Still you would think someone who resisted is more of a flight risk.
Makes me even more curious about what Mangum's deal to avoid the assault of a cop with her car was?
You certainly have not worn out your welcome her with me.
You surely have not worn out your welcome with me--Your perspective of one who has lived this nightmare helps me to realize we're talking about real people and real families not just some characters in a bad made for TV movie. Your insights mean more than you know.

Baker, who leaves Duke University to become a distinguished university professor at Vanderbilt, is one of the most wide-ranging intellectuals in America. He has written about Victorian and African American literature, rap music, the legacy of Booker T. Washington, the Harlem Renaissance and much more, often drawing audiences far afield from academia.
Does being an intellectual include being void of common sense because Baker's letter was one of the dumbest I've ever read given there was no evidence of guilt by the Lax Players.
Thank you, Lovey. It's been a tough 3 years. Found out yesterday, they didn't seal his record as was promised, so now we have to go back to court. He couldn't even get a summer job at Home Depot due to the "oversight". Will just cost more money. Think just shy of 60 is too old to get my old street corner back??? ;-)
Read my comment to JLS -- tell those folks to hang tough -- no deals -- no prisoners -- stand fast and hold tight. You can't afford to dance with the devil. My son has 40-50 years to survive -- can't be done with what's happened to him so far.
She must have had the goods on someone worse to offer in exhange for leniency.
"Are the quadruple homicide victims black or white?"
Black.....a picture of one of the victims and his dad:

And even though the statistics don't lie, white people who mention those statistics are considered racists, even though much of the crime is black on black.
