Exactly my situation with siblings. I was told I was the "oldest" so it all came down on me. I know what you are going through and how hard it is. I hope I never have to do anything like that again.
Thank you, yes he does. What made him feel the worst was that she thought he had just abandoned her. She couldn't understand why he didn't come to see her. She would ask me if I knew her son and could I bring him to visit "because he was too young to drive by himself." It is heart wrenching to watch the progression of this disease.
Giant is a film I never tire of watching and its one of those I wish I had a chance to watch on the Big screen. For some reason I never got into James Dean but I loved him in that.
It progressed to the point (in spite of the newest drugs) that she didn't know where she was....didn't know what day it was...didn't know her own husband....couldn't remember what she said two minutes after she said it.
She slept constantly.....and towards the end, lost interest in food.
She was diagnosed shortly after the onset.....and died 6 years later.
For those who are taking care of their loved ones at home....
..God bless you, and please know there are lots of resources available for you.
Also know there is financial help (in some cases) if you need to take your loved one to a 'home'.
It can become physically, emotionally impossible to continue care on your own, sometimes.
Don't consider yourself a failure if it comes to institutionalizing your loved one.
You are so bad:)
A friend who's mother had this did the same thing to my friend's father. She would accuse him of stealing things from their home and selling the things for cash. Whenever my friend's father would leave their home and come back again her mother would call the police and say there was strange man in the house stealing things.
Fortunately there are a lot more treatments for this terrible disease than there were many years ago. I wish you all the best.
'Giant' has always been my all-time favorite movie!!
Namenda didn't do much here , only on it briefly tho.
hanging out with Michael Jackson probably did
I read that she befriended him because she had empathy for the fact that he never had a normal childhood, as was the case with her too, because they were working as children.
I think that film really showed Dean's talent, that he could be much more than the sullen troubled teen.
This would explain why she was friends with Micheal Jackson.
Yes he was. It is a tragic disease...it causes people to lose themselves.
Yeah...we all know Reagan was a sot and pill popper......geez
We well acknowledge that we are blessed to be in a position to keep the Old Man in our home. For many reasons, he would not do well elsewhere. He is blind.
My heart hurts for those who must put their loved one into other place, when they wish for other
Huh? Welcome to my Freeper Idiot list.
That is just about the saddest thing I'll probably read in a very long time.
I truly hope God will give you both His healing peace.
You surely do deserve it.
I think that strictly speaking, Alzheimers cannot be diagnosed until after death...at least that is what my moms doctor told me...he said, that she more than likely had Alzheimers, but for a certainty, she had a dementia...
I have worked in nursing homes for many years...and have taken care of many many dementia residents, some diagnosed as having Alzheimers, some diagnosed as have a resultant dementia that often comes with Parkinsons, and some having a dementia related to brain injuries, such as strokes...
Whatever the name of the particular illness or such that causes dementia, 'dementia', is a terrible thing...the persons body may be quite healthy, but the mind slowly drifts away...its a sad, sad, thing to live with, whether its the patient, or the family who must care for them...
My prayers are for Elizabeth Taylor and her family....
