One of my DVD player will not play RWs or CDRs but will play DVD-Rs the other one (older one) will play anything.
It can be annoying at times. I have problem on my old computer with the CD re-writing disk I think maybe it is a conflict with the DVD writer. The DVD writer does both CDs and DVDs fine so not really an issue especially as it is my old machine.
Both drives play CDs fine.

Some of the newer stuff just skips errors on disks other just will not play it.
Also some of the older stuff plays things that the newer will not because they have not got copy protection build in because what it is playing did not exist when manufactured. For example my friend's DVD player will not play CDRs but it will play DVD-Rs. I suspect they built in copy protection for CDs but not DVDs because at the time hardly anyone had a DVD recorder.

With the cheap price of CDRs nowadays I do not bother 2 days ago through using the CDR drive instead of the DVD drive in the old computer I ruined 2 CDRs but at 10 cents a disk or less not really a problem.

I've done that enough with my (now toasted) CD drive.
Mainly, I'd burn what turned out to be a damaged iso (cd image)--and the CD doesn
When I installed Suse 10.0, I had a problem during the installation (the install hung at the hardware config). Turns outit was because the image for the fifth CD was damaged...8^)

good idea .. will try that! I had not noticed the speakers being bad before.. I wonder if one of the kitties "annointed them"?
Just finished mowing lawn. leaving within hour to do graves. Now that am doing it alone it is much fast than when we had a "work crew" of 10 or so.
All over 75 & all trying to be chiefs. (and I was the sole Indian).
The sentiments were nice of a group doing family memeber graves but the reality of it was always confusion for me with all of them to be appeased.

I let the Easy-Off work overnight, for maximum effect (I won't tell you how long it's been since I've last cleaned it). All I can say is that whoever it is that invented that stuff, I owe him an eternal debt of gratitude.

McAfee can not be fully uninstalledthe cleanest way to resolve:
Download & install a free copy of Easy Cleanerlaunch it > startup tab >uncheck McAfee references

Also some of the older stuff plays things that the newer will not because they have not got copy protection build in because what it is playing did not exist when manufactured. That's true. The first generation DVD players, like the DVD player from Apex, didn't have alot of the newer technologies like copy protection mechanisms built in. In fact, it would even play DVD's regardless of what region it was encoded for, so if one was a fan of Japanese anime, they could play a DVD bought and encoded in Japan, which is in Region 4 I believe, here in the States (which is Region 1). The newer DVD players allow the user to change the DVD regions in the on screen menu up to five times before you're not allowed to again.

A public holiday. Though certain people in the retail trade and of course essential/emergency industries plus of course catering still have to work. They normally get extra pay though for working on that day unless their contract of employment is worded cleverly and weekends and public holidays are part of their normal working hours.
All offices and factories though unless it unsafe to turn the machinery off will not be working on Monday.
Interesting. I've always wanted to know what "bank holiday's" were. I know in some factories like steel mills and the like, you cannot turn off the furnaces because the steel in them would harden and they would be done for. My father worked at one and he even told me the plant had a backup generation system in case if they lost commercial power because of this.
