Thats a Pit activism site...wouldn't trust it.

Here's a well known 'pit activist' (/sarc) that you can discount as well.

'Dog whisperer' says pit bull ban is bad news

TORONTO -- Ontario's pit bull ban is an unfair law based on ignorance - because getting rid of a breed of dog doesn't get rid of the problem, says celebrity dog trainer Cesar Millan. ~snip~

"In the United States, in the '70s, they did the same thing to the Doberman. In the '80s they did it to the German shepherd, in the '90s they did it to the Rottweiler, and now they're doing it to the pit bull," he says.

"So whatever dog is in fashion, people are going to blame them for things."

The article goes on to point out this...

"Under the Ontario ban, which was passed last August, it is illegal to own, breed, transfer, abandon or import pit bulls or other breeds "substantially similar" to pit bulls. Owners who violate the law can be fined up to $10,000 and/or be sentenced to six months in jail. The court can also order a dog to be destroyed."

What the article doesn't mention is that the penalties are the same for having my dog unmuzzled in public.
Let me show you something ...this is the view from my front door to my blue van,
sometimes it's parked one space closer.

I do not walk my dog in the neighborhood or on any city streets.
I do this not out of fear of what my dog may do but of what people may do to my dog.
When I would walk my dog to the van, for instance when we begin our workday together,
I would invariably use an adequately strong leash,
my dog is trained to heel as we walk
and I am strong enough to control him.
Yet for me to walk this short distance with my dog unmuzzled
leaves me open to a $10,000 fine, 6 months in jail and my dog being destroyed.

This is the reality of breed specific dog bans.
This is the fear I must continually live under.
This is the hard fist of knee-jerk, totalitarian, 'shot gun' laws that punish the innocent rather than addressing the actual problems

And there is aways the possibility of someone who hates your dog's breed claiming that your dog has offended when it hasn't. This will result in a totalitarian state descending upon an innocent dog owner.

Again, my post #179. Some of this nonsense has gone way to far. All the reg's we would have had to comply with would have cost THOUSANDS of dollars. If he was to be kept outside in a pen, it would have required a cement pad to be poured!

Henry, the (vicious) Bearded Collie shown here in 'attack mode' on the left, we had to get rid of because he was a 'vicious dog'.

My Mother had him & Charlie (right) playing in a tennis court when a guy with a dog walked by. Henry jumped on the gate, it opened and he got into a fight with the dog. The guys shorts were ripped, but we didn't know by which one. My Mom reimbursed him for his shorts, and his dog's trip to the vet for 'checkup'. He still filed a complaint, and the restrictions were well beyond absurd, so we had to find him a new home.

Perhaps we should have sued the city for faulty public facilities. I don't think that a tennis court gate should be able to be opened by a dog, after all.

My Mom used to buy into a lot of the 'pitbull & vicious spin'. Not anymore, after this.
