They're still not chickening out (Dixie Chicks BARF Alert)
The Spokesman Review | 5-23-2006 | Unknown

The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003--but not now.

"I don't feel that way anymore," Maines tells Time magazine. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."

As war in Iraq loomed, Maines had said: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."

That led to death threats and a backlash from other country stars, including Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career.

With their new album, "Taking the Long Way," hitting stores today, fellow Chick Martie Maguire isn't exactly mending fences.

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire says.

"We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

Their rehabilitation is beginning. Last night's finale of NBC's Medium featured their new album. One song was played over and over and over, and then they had a promo at the end of the show.

Dear Chicks -

It's over.

You loose.

Good day.

PS - It is a shame they allow you into Nashville's city limits.

There's no escaping them it seems. Last night their new CD was played in the background of almost the entire episode of the popular tv show MEDIUM. It was annoying and strange. Then at the end of MEDIUM there was a little blurb saying that the music heard during the episode was from the Dixie Chicks new album available on CD "tomorrow". In other words, I had just watched an hour long infomercial under false pretenses. Am pretty steamed at this sneaky advertising trick.

All through the episode, I kept asking my wife if she recognized the crappy song they kept playing over and over. Didn't figure it out until the promo at the end. Did you notice how loud they played the song? It overshadowed the actors talking. I had to turn on close captioning to even follow along with the story, due to everythin being drowned out by what I later learned was the screaming banshee Natalie. What an annoying and nasaly voice she has.

"With their new album, "Taking the Long Way," hitting stores today. . ."

I think they left a word out of the title. Shouldn't it be "Taking the Long Way Down?"

Went to Target on my lunch to buy Tobys CD as well as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Peppers were so sold out, so I had bought the new Def Leopard Album which also was released today. Great Stuff! However there were rows and rows and rows of DC cd's just collecting dust. However hitsdailydouble.com says that "early" sales reporting shows the chicks will sale over 300K their first week and that Walmart, Best Buy, AND Target were scrambling to "re-order" do the "large" demand for the cd. I guess they just need to stop by Woodland Hills Target in California, cause there are tons of them there!! ROFLMAO!

Considering that the Da Vinci Code and the Dixie Chicks are number 1 in their respective areas right now, I think there's a lesson to be learned: Just ignore the stupid stuff you don't happen to like. It will go away faster.

The way I see it; each Chick will have only two fans, the other 2 Chicks.
