They're still not chickening out (Dixie Chicks BARF Alert)
The Spokesman Review | 5-23-2006 | Unknown

Posted on 05/23/2006 12:08:46 PM PDT by lilylangtree

The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003--but not now.

"I don't feel that way anymore," Maines tells Time magazine. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."

As war in Iraq loomed, Maines had said: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."

That led to death threats and a backlash from other country stars, including Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career.

With their new album, "Taking the Long Way," hitting stores today, fellow Chick Martie Maguire isn't exactly mending fences.

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire says.

"We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life,..."

Maines sounds just like the manager in Spinal Tap who when asked if the band was losing audience since they were playing in smaller and smaller arenas replied was that the band's appeal was becoming more "selective".
The difference is that the movie was satire, Maines is serious.

Success is fleeting as they will soon find out. This new album sucks.
Do not disrespect your fans, dear Natalie.

This is typical of people who have failing careers.Just as in the case of Madonna pretending to be crucified,Brittany Spears and her infant, etc. These are acts of desperation and they are on their way out!

Natalie Maines: I am famous, therefore, I am smart.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Natalie Maines married to actor Adrien Brody, an Iranian?

back in 2003 when she first shot her mouth off, Conan O'Brian did a great piece.

He was talking about the Dixie Chicks and said they had some footage from their latest tour.
They showed video footage of them playing on stage, and cut to show the audience, and they replaced it with film footage of a hamas style rally from the gaza strip.

I was crying it was soo funny.

I'm a country music fan and I liked some of their stuff, but watching a group reach the pinnacle and then implode on it's own stupidity is unbelieveable. This lunacy is so much fun. I understand the Toby Keith comment but Reba?? What the ??? How can Natalie possibly distance herself from country music when her father is so well known in the business? And guess who has the last laugh? The original third member of the group. The one who got left behind when the sisters decided to go to Nashville. Seems their musical tastes began to differ so they found Maines. All this public support in front of the camera is expected but I want to be a fly on the wall back stage. The sisters deserve the blame for this disaster. They let Natalie have center stage, she got too big for her britches and the rest is history.

Those kind of fans would be helping you pay for your plastic surgery bills in a few years, ladies. Maybe now you'll have to learn to grow gracefully like the rest of us.

Thank you. I just found the info. I remembered the first name was Adrien or Adrian but couldn't remember the last name and he was Iranian.

I am also choosy about who I listen to and whose recordings buy. Hope this keeps up because when they do this it only makes reps and conservatives know what President Bush has to deal with. The more they condem the country, the war , the troops and people like Toby and Reba , patriotic Americans , the more the conservatives will vote in November.Where is Jack Bauer when you need him!Imus was plugging their songs today, bye bye Imus!!

No, she's married to Adrien Pasdar (he was in a show called Profit about ten years ago.) And yes, he is Iranian, or part at least.

I've heard Maines is a total control freak band nazi. Her ego obviously has gotten to the point were she can't shut up to protect her band from commiting career suicide.
Good riddens.

To any and all disaffected DChix fans
may we suggest a superior alternative:

Multiple Grammy award winner
Alison Krauss and Union Station.
