A woman from Ohio is hospitalized with serious injuries after a bear attacked her near her home in Ashtabula County yesterday.
According to a state wildlife officer, the 500-pound bear escaped from the Grand River Fur Exchange, a commercial gaming business in Hartsgrove Township.
The animal apparently got out after its owner went inside to clean its cage.
The bear then made its way to a neighboring home where it attacked Rachel Supplee, 36.

Bear Kills 93 Year-Old New Mexico Woman
The 100-pound elderly woman didn't have a chance against a 275-pound bear in the kitchen of her home, wildlife officials ...
A 93-year-old New Mexico woman was mauled to death by a black bear that broke into her home over the weekend, stunned wildlife officials have confirmed.
Adelia Maestas Trujillo of Cleveland, in north-central New Mexico, was killed "by multiple bite injuries," said Scott Wilson, associate director of the Office of Medical Investigator.
Trujillo, a great-grandmother who lived alone, was found Saturday morning, Aug. 18, on her kitchen floor when her son, Raymond Trujillo, came from his nearby home to check on her, authorities said.
"From our preliminary investigation, she was asleep during the night, when she heard a disturbance and went to investigate," Wilson said.
"At that point, the bear pushed out the screen door and came at her through the window in the door. There was little evidence of a struggle."

Was that really a necessary aside? = )
How awful.
We need to bring back some of the limited, spring hunting seasons.
Not just to harvest some of the bears, gator, lions, wolves, etc. but also to help educate the predators that humans are not an easy source of food.
I have been at the Grand River Fur Exchange before. It once was a fur farm but it is now a urine farm. Smelled like it too! The owners are nice people and I feel bad that this happened - I'm sure the Cleveland media are going to twist this story around and around to suit their needs. I heard that the injured woman is doing quite well condsidering.""
What in the devil is a "URINE FARM????? What would be the use of such a product??? How does one go about collecting it from 500 pound bears??
Inquiring minds need some answers, please.
The gators have killed three Florida women in one week.
Another woman shot a gator inside of her home. The dummie deputy sheriff gave her a ticket for illegal hunting !""
I would fight that ticket as far up the ladder as I could go. Where is the right to defend yourself in a shall carry state?????
It is always Bush's fault. :)
