"She says caution is needed because there's not enough data on long-term consequences of using hormones continuously. Gordon notes menopausal women for years were told that hormone drugs would keep them young until research uncovered unexpected risks."
Mark my words ... there will be unpleasant consequences for this. You're messing around with hormones. Suppressing them. There will be side effects. It wouldn't surprise me if permanent infertility was a result or other hormone problems. Anyone with sense should avoid this.

Most cycles have other things timed off of them. I wouldn't be surprised if this drives more things out of whack than is obvious.

Most doctors say they don't think suppressing menstruation is riskier than regular long-term birth control use,

I don't know why..but this reminds me of the time in the 80's when I worked at a law firm as a gopher..someone who did handy jobs around the company..I would fix lights in the coffee room..the secretaries would gather around and talk in great detail about their cycles..no punches pulled..I was trapped as I was on a ladder and could not just stop and walk away..I wouldn't say anything..but as I finished and walked out with the ladder..I would say.."Better you than me"..

The period is "way over-romanticized," says Linda Gordon, a New York University professor specializing in women's history and the history of sexuality. "It doesn't take long for women to go from being excited about having a period to feeling it's a pain in the neck," said Gordon,
Well, there's a couple understatements if ever I heard one.

For some women, periods can cause debilitating pain and more serious problems.Gee, somehow I survived it every month for the past 30 years (when I wasn't pregnant or nursing).
