Schlitz, Old Milwaukee and Pabst are terrible tasting beers.

You managed to name my two nominations - Pearl ("Red Dot") and Jax.

I would've also said Shiner, but only because I didn't think anyone else would have heard of it, compared to all these back east and up north beer names - the beer wasn't that bad.

That's the Spoetzl Brewery, BTW. Named for Kosmos Spoetzl, their first brewmeister in Shiner, TX.

IIRC, some years ago, Consumer Reports did a blind taste test and Old Miwaukee won? Can I get a witness?

SAB Miller is a year or two old. If you might have noticed, A-B ran some commercials after the merger than declared themselves something like "America's Brewery," or "The All-American Brewery," designed to tweak SAB's ownership of Miller.

Although the book looks at the story of Schlitz, Pabst, G. Heileman, Oly, etc. from a Chicago perspective, The History of Beer and Brewing in Chicago, Volume II does a good job of explaining how all of this came about.

Billy! This thread is about beer, not drainage from a cesspool.

Lucky Lager, Burgie, and Hamms were my dad's choice. Like those, Brew 102 was cheap.

I'd rather cut down my consumption(which we have, in honor of the gas hikes), than touch some of the beer mentioned on this thread.

Good thread though : )

....6 Michelob Ultra Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. 0.98 558 Pale Lager..... My wife bought a 12 pack for a party and it was all left over. All the other beer was consumed. I tried to drink one but didn't finish it. Later I took them to a friend's gathering and they were all still there at the end.

Actually, I drink Mich Ultra. I hated it when I first started drinking it, but I liked the idea of low carbs and low calories.

I have now aquired a taste for it, but I do drink other beers from time to time, as sort of a treat.

I must have blocked the name from memory, but my freshman year in college we bought some stuff at $4 a case out of the back of a van that was so bad that a bunch of 18 year old inebriate horn-dogs couldn't drink it. We poured it down a ravine behind the dorm. I think it killed all the plants.

I would say Red Dog gets my vote for the worst beer. I'm surprised it's not on the list.

We poured it down a ravine behind the dorm. I think it killed all the plants.

That reminds of an experience here in Houston at a place called
Knob Hill Park.. we ultra tough teens utilized the facilities there to be rebelious.

Once we had a bottle of something called "Old Heaven Hill".. supposedly whiskey.

We ended up pitching it and deciding "Old Heaven Hill" was a graveyard and the drainage runoff was in the bottle.
