I'll try again. My earlier quote from the WRAL article says a test for date-rape WAS DONE. The article you posted says that a "tox" screen wasn't done on CGM at the hospital.

Is the "date-rape" screen not a part of the "tox" screen?

If it is, it tells me that she must have been lucid sufficient for SANE etc., to not think she'd been slipped "the" mickey.

I seem to recall that a test for a date rape drug must be requested seperately, not part of a standard tox screen.

It was said on Abrams today that part of the SANE exam would have included blood drawn from the victim for testing. However, the forensic expert on the show said that you couldn't test for a date-rape drug with the blood drawn, that it would have to be tested by a urine sample. I'm not a forensics expert so I'm only repeating what I thought I heard.

So what did Nifong present to the grand jury?

I know you don't need much, but still. I wonder if he said anything that he couldn't really back up?

Did he just ask them to sign some papers for him?

It wouldn't matter what the SANE nurse thought. Mangum had to give consent for those tests. No tests were done. So, the question is did the SANE nurse decide they weren't needed because she was fine, or were they not done because Mangum refused to consent to them? If Mangum was behaving as she had been earlier, the latter is more likely.
