DURHAM, N.C.—One of three Duke University lacrosse players charged with rape wants the case resolved in time for the next school year, his lawyer said in court yesterday. But the judge warned he will not fast-track the proceedings.

The case "is not going to jump ahead of the line and be handled any differently," Superior Court Judge Ronald L. Stephens said at a hearing for sophomore Reade Seligmann.

After the brief hearing, District Attorney Mike Nifong said he does not expect any trial to begin before next year.

Dang! That's what I started out doing this morning... digging up that Myspace website on Kim Robert's Brother. Who is he but a she. Don't know about the dressing part. But definitely gay. I wonder if cousin and Kim's brother knew each other, went to the same church 'n all that.

Haven't gone to sleep yet; but soon. (Gotta put a turkey in the oven early morning). In re the "did the "civilized side" win; hell of a question. The story isn't over yet. But in re that slice of time? No. But yes. But no.. But yes. (I had ancestors on both sides of the Civil War.)

The North just turned around and has been enacting a different kind of slavery ever since the Civil War. And then there's the west, the oddball cousins of both South and North, somehow thinking its above the "fray" in that matter. When ya get down to it: CA Liberals are highly, absolutely uncivilized.

And now that I'm in the South and picking up more American history than I have my whole life long. The war on slavery was picked just in order to financially cut the legs offa the south. But the South should have just suceeded long ago. Oh )(*&^. I'll be thinking about this for days.. about this "recent unpleasantness" and your question. What if Lee had torched the South before being taken down...

We been done lied to about the South.

I'm so glad you wrote that! I moved from South Carolina to Southern California in the early 90's, just in time to experience the LA riots and the OJ trial. I'll never forget a young lady who, upon hearing I was from the South, said "you have racial problems there, don't you?"

I had no clue how to respond. My experience has been that the South is no better or worse than any other part of the country in terms of race relations. I truly believe that Durham is not representative of most Southern cities.

I love this stuff.

Raised my kids with regular junkets to graveyards throughout CA, and taught them history. They did some astounding research projects on different people and families who caught their interest.

In past digs in re this case, I kept on passing by the "Isle of Wight" ones thinking these were in England. Dittos, contrariwise there's a Durham in England.

I'll bet dollars to donuts the original spelling was indeed "Mangham". My own family name took on different "spellings", by recorders, once the American shores were reached.

lol! Prior to leaving CA, I was given "those looks" by the PC proto-type bot units in CA about my moving to a "racist" state. Fools. They had to have known I'd get in their faces about the racist "democrats" of California. I did. And they trembled. Idiots. The white PC bots had been denied access to jobs because they weren't "deserving" minorities. They were hard up, out of work, and praying for relief, and here they were worried about me moving to uh, the South?

Most the west in SF are such rookies on the topic of racism, and the south. That's why they are so hot to use the word "RACIST" all the time; it's supposed to cover up their own ignorance of the matter.

I'm so glad you wrote that! I moved from South Carolina to Southern California in the early 90's, just in time to experience the LA riots and the OJ trial.

Oh gawd... I hope you know it was hell at that time in the sister city of LA -- San Francisco. We had riots, and protests and general disgusting stupidity going on.

I'll never forget a young lady who, upon hearing I was from the South, said "you have racial problems there, don't you?"

ROFL!!! You met a "Valley Girl" (aka "wonder" woman)... Are you still in Hell-A?

How odd! I was looking at Kim's Myspace account today and checking out her various friends. The one who is a cartoon character, Kamper I believe, has quite a few "friends." 200+ IIRC. I'm not sure what kind of "friends" they are. If you are curious click on his picture and then click on all his "friends." There is something not quite right with that account.

There was a gray haired guy (I think he is an ex-prosecutor) on Megyn Kendall's panel that just ripped Nifong apart. Said he's in way over his head.

Also had defense attorney on addressing the civil lawsuit issue. Says she would advise NOT to settle with family, in return for dropping charges. Pointed out Nifong could still compel her testimony in a criminal trial.

Had a private investigator on. Megyn asks what stone she would look under at this point. PI says she would want to see accuser's cell phone records. Gray haired guy says defense can and will get that info, regardless if the cell phone itself still has it.

Terrific panel, and the right questions were asked.

I don't think it is. In fact, if I were asked to compare race relations in CA to race relations in NC? NC wins, hands down. Durham has seemed to embrace a "New Blank Panther/NOI/Culture of Corruption" sort of .. practice of governing. Some locals of Durham have told me that Durham defines the lips on the Face of Satan.

Megan Kendall's panel: Someone said the defense attorneys have said there will be no deals.

In fact, Durham puts me in mind of certain locations in the San Francisco Bay Area: inner city Oakland, Hunter's Pt (SF), El Cerrito/Richmond.. in how "things" are run. And how uncivilized it can be to live in places run this way.

Yep, she was a movie store clerk in Northridge who asked to see my ID.

I made the trip to San Fransico several times and it's such a beautiful city! Everyone should visit there at least once. The politics of the city are such a shame.

I'm back here in South Carolina now.

I'm glad you are back. South Carolina is divine. :)

YES, the Bay Area is jaw-droppingly beautiful. No two ways about that. Living there is hell by another name. Went back past September, and my son was stunned. His horror at seeing how oppressed and censored the people living there (used to be us) are -- except for the liberals who make living there uncivilized and intolerable.

What a trap of a place. Didn't used to be like that. I remember when it was as beautiful inside as outside.

At the very end, I thought I heard Megyn say that defense attorneys plan to move for a dismissal of the indictments. I didn't hear if she mentioned a time frame. Did anyone else catch it?

CGM would be admitting her injuries might not have come from an assault if she accepts a settlement for falling down the steps. She's not likely going to be allowed to admit that by her lawyers.

Wonder if Megyn knows that.

There were reports that the crew on FOX last night were snickering, but if Megyn felt that way she did a great job of covering.

BTW, She is a He!!

Never! As a woman, I'm quite jealous!!
