Mary Cheney was just on NPR's Diane Rehm Show, promoting her new book "Now It's My Turn".
She spanked Diane and the standard lib callers pretty darned good. Sounded like they just can't possibly fathom a conservative Republican gay person. She set them straight about her parent's investments going into a nonrevocable trust that goes to charity, about the 2004 election being about trust and national security and not about Republican misrepresentation, about her being a person speaking her own mind and not a glbt shrill, and other good stuff. She told a number of callers they were just wrong about things. And she left Rehm without words a few times, trying to deal with some truths. That's always priceless.
I doubt NPR will invite her back for any future segments.
I'll leave all that condemnation stuff to you. You seem to have a real good handle on it.
What did Lansing say that was so condemning? I really don't understand.
Would you call the Church condemning in this statement from the Catechism?
1867 The catechetical tradition also recalls that there are "sins that cry to heaven": the blood of Abel, the sin of the Sodomites, the cry of the people oppressed in Egypt, the cry of the foreigner, the widow, and the orphan, injustice to the wage earner.
Looks like a layered protection scheme, to me.
Bingo!
FYI: Mary Cheney will be a guest on David Letterman's show tonight, 5/19/06. 11:30pm ET/PT, CBS
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Oh dear, how old is THAT picture. Rehm is a troll.
Mary Cheney is a fiscal conservative....nothing more.
Christians respond...('kneejerk' according to sinkspur and others here)...because we're sick and tired of watching long held conservative values undermined!
We don't 'hate' gays...(as many of you seem to believe)...and we certainly don't 'hate' Mary Cheney.
...but many of us are tired of the gay agenda encrouching on families, the family unit and children....
..and we're tired of the 'in your face' crowed.
I fully realize what I've just posted will be distorted, misread & torn apart by some of you here.
...whatever.
I was just thinking the other day about Mary Cheney and her personal preference. Well, it is utterly impossible that she is the only, "gay" conservative here in the United States. And I hope her speaking up on behalf of her book will give others confidence so they can tell the Wild, Man of La Manchas, who are so egotistical, to shut up and get a clue...
BTW, I have a list of the knee-jerk, sinkspur's here on FR, that have so rudely plopped their little selves in my path. And I personally think they are just as bad as the talking head Dems. or anyone else, they so despise. They waste valuable time and, "Whistle to the Wind"...
"When will our representatives pass laws to make it a crime to perform sex change operations? Those are evil & must be made a crime."
This is in the same package as, "abortion", which is incredibly evil. It now appears to me, our reps. "let" abortion come into being, and all else that followed. We are seen as, a thorn in their side, so they really don't give a rip about the honest, hardworking, legal citizens. Its only the cheats, liars, thieves, and robbers they are concerned about...
Ever seen Larry Kudlow on TV? The guy's as flaming as Charles Nelson Reilly. And yes, I know he's married, and no, it doesn't make my gadar react any differently.
I just saw her on CSPAN. Saw her the other day somewhere too. She speaks just like her dad. Same facial expressions, too. She's impressive. I am interested in reading her book.
Interesting remarks by you throughout this thread. I stopped by because I saw Mary Cheney on tv and was impressed by her, and went searching FR for a book review. Anyway, good to know if you're right, I should probably at least avoid Jesus' MOST scathing condemnation, although I still don't like my chances.
Talking behind someone's back is rude. You should at least have the courage to ping me when you're trashing me.
I have to say that the most righteous around here, for all their certainty, don't seem to know the first thing about basic manners.
Listened to a interview this past week. Rehm was flabbergasted that VP Cheney would make casual reference to throwing a reporter out of a plane at 35,000 ft. "But he suggested it!" she said.
For knicker-knotted twits like Rehm and her cubicle mate Totenburg the implications of a thing have more substance than the facts. No room for gesting. Nosirree.
These folks take themselves way too seriesly.
That's a keeper!
I can't find the Mary Cheney interview link on Diane Rehm's website. Do you think it's been removed already?
