That's right.
I've gone back and forth on whether or not Nifong ever believed her, and judging by his continual unethical behavior, I don't think he did.
When this story broke, my gut reaction was that Mangum was a prostitute and the players had consensual sex with her, but did not rape her. I have to believe that Nifong, who knew Mangum was a prostitute, thought the same thing and was confident he was going to find the player's DNA on her, so he ran with the case.
Just consider the reaction of Nancy Grace and Wendy Murphy with NO DNA evidence linking the players to Mangum. If Nifong could have come up with DNA evidence, even if it was tranferred through consensual sex, I have little doubt these boys would be convicted of rape by a Durham jury and the Drive By Media.
That's her father. I recognize the silhouette.

are you serious? he has had one hard life then
I only knew that was a name she used at one time. I was spelling it "Jeanette"
Her "Stage" name... Maybe written Ja'Nette (or some variable)
Yeah, she changed in about a week's time. All along she was on Mangum's side every weekend on her show, then she changed last weekend, and now she's pro-defense. i think her ratings tanked because of her stupidity and she got a wake-up call from FNC that she was making a fool of herself and her show was suffering for it. The reason I think this is because she's been on Hannity rehabilitating herself, whereas before she was only on Hannity once to speak for Mangum and Nifong and the rest was on her own show. Now she's on Hannity a lot speaking for the defense.
to support you post: I remember her defenders saying even a prostitute can be raped when this thing first came out
Yours is ringing "recall bells" for me. I think you did look for a Jeanette.
Yes, she's a victim's advocate, and she's done some fine work pertaining to protection of children from pedophiles. But when it comes to adults, she apparently has trouble recognizing who's the victim and who's the perpetrator.
Other TV hosts have brought it (three wealthiest) up - Dan Abrams for one.
Sometimes this stuff just floats around in that space between my ears, LOL! If I could only grab it.

Web site created in support of Duke rape victim
by Defender News Services
May 18, 2006
The Triangle Urban League (TUL), the NC Conference of NAACP Branches, along with several Black newspapers in North Carolina, are set to unveil a community-based website that allows people from across the country to express their love, support and concern for the alleged survivor in the Duke lacrosse gang rape case.
Keith Sutton, TUL president/CEO, and Dr. William Barber, NC NAACP president, will make comment on why Black community leaders and the Black Press came together to provide a vehicle by which the survivor can realize that she is not alone.
(snip)
The Black newspapers The Carolinian of Raleigh, The Carolina Times of Durham, and the Wilmington Journal signed on to be part of the projects Coalition of the Concerned because of the immense media bias against the survivor.
Because Black newspapers were originally founded as vehicles of advocacy, they are required, by tradition and standard, not only to report to the African-American community, to stand up for their community anytime it is under attack.
Other community-based organizations listed among the Coalition of the Concerned include the NC Black Leadership caucus, the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Durham and Vicinity, Andrea Harris, El-Hajj Sheik Kenneth Murray-Muhammad (who passed just this week) and his wife, Sister Margaret Rose Murray-Muhammad. NNPA
WRAL.com will have the video of the hearing, scheduled for 2:30pm EST today.
There is nothing new under the sun.
In the early stages of this case, I partly followed this story by reading a lefty blog, "Rachel's Tavern," because of the comments by a poster named "Chris," who claimed to be close friends with a couple of lacrosse players. Some of his info did, in fact, turn out to be a step ahead of the news, so perhaps he was who he claimed to be. One statement he made, which I haven't given much thought to in a long time, is that Mangum was rumored to have been an informant who had "rolled over" on someone in a drug case. I'm curious if anyone with LE or legal experience can tell if that's what Seligmann's lawyers might be looking for with these motions.
They are asking for all cases in which Mangum and Roberts were used or considered as witnesses. I'm not sure what value that info would even have for the defense.
(Don't bother going to Rachel's Tavern to find Chris' posts, the feminazi in charge deleted all the comments on her blog as soon as this story started to unfold in way she didn't like.)
Thank you for that--I was wondering if we would be able to see it live.
yup. lol.
I looked back at Weekend posts to see what was reported on Kimberly Gilfoil
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1631677/posts?page=439#439
in the above link, there's a post saying that Kimberly interpreted the DNA from the Friday night Press conference as pointing to guilt in the Lacrosse players. Post 500 in the same thread also refers to Kimberly Gilfoil.
Gilfoil may have become slightly more reasonable but nothing like last night.
As is her right to do. And while she shrieks 'CENSORSHIP"... "BIAS" at pubbies, no doubts, and goes on and on about how MALES (and also named Chris) are out to silence womym's voices.
shaking head..
i have always wondered if Kim or the AV were informants.
Those deals were too nice. They are not typical.

There's one that shows a picture of Crystal. (She is not what I'd call attractive.) See: More Information about Crystal Gail Mangum.
It links to http://www.dilby.com/duke-lacrosse-team-accuser.htm
Half way down the page is a reference to Oscar Compton. Could that be the "boyfriend"?
